Distilled water
Distilled water
Just wondering if anyone else here makes their own distilled water. I use distilled water for my cpap humidifier and in my cigar humidors in the humidification system. I am on a well here and even with having an iron curtain and water softener as well as a reverse osmosis for drinking water my wife and son will not drink the water. I asked out Dr. if it was ok to drink distilled water and she said sure. So I am no longer going through two or three cases of bottled water a week. I started using distilled water to make coffee and the taste difference is huge with no rings in the cum or anything on the surface.

Re: Distilled water
Drinking distilled water isn't recommended, as your body needs some of the minerals in ground water for the best health, I would suspect your Doctors knowledge.... While true distilled water is safe the packaging and storage of it may not keep it safest for human drinking, that can be said for bottled water also.
I think Chunkyfrog makes her own distilled water. It's not hard to do once you acquire the secret formula. Jim

Re: Distilled water
My brother lives in semi rural Texas and he has well water and is renting, the water softener is broken and he wants to be a great tenant because rent is going up in the area but his has stayed the same probably because the landlord never has to do anything, if something reasonable breaks he fixes it. Anyway he has a ice and water machine in his town called Twice the Ice. Ice costs like $1.50 for a 16lb bag of ice and $0.25 for a gallon of filtered water from a municipal supply/$1.00 for 5 gallons. You have to buy the jugs for the water cooler because it doesn't include them. He found some decent ones cheap and he purchased a water cooler from costco for like $79 and that's all the drinking water they have. Check to see if they have one in your area. If your real interested, I can ask for more details.

Potential Risks of Distilled Water
While distilled water is the purest type of water, it’s not necessarily healthiest.
The distillation process is very effective at removing potentially harmful contaminants, but it also removes the natural minerals and electrolytes found in water.
Along with unwanted impurities, beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium are also left behind as the steam rises during the distillation process.
In fact, distillation typically removes around 99.9% of all minerals found in tap water (16).
Though water is not typically thought of as a source of minerals, any factor that leads to a decreased intake of essential micronutrients could negatively impact your health.
For example, drinking water that's low in calcium and magnesium has been associated with an increased risk of fracture, preterm birth and heart disease (17, 18).
However, it’s important to note that tap water is not a major source of mineral intake for most people, and drinking distilled water should be relatively safe as long as a well-balanced diet is followed.
Like other methods of purification, distillation removes fluoride from drinking water, which may put those who choose to drink distilled water at an increased risk of cavities.
This makes it important for those who drink distilled water to maintain proper dental hygiene.
Summary:
Distilled water is a type of purified water that is essentially free from contaminants. The distillation process removes fluoride and natural minerals found in drinking water.

Yes, as Den posted, I can read! However, I don't believe every thing that is written on the Internet, or even on paper. It makes sense to me that the body needs minerals to complete the chemical functions, we get many of them added thru eating and drinking.
Distilled water has them removed, it makes sense to me that by drinking distilled water we are not adding minerals that may be in our water supply. Also by drinking water without them, the body could lose the minerals faster by drinking distilled. Levels of chemicals tend to get dissolved by water, and erode into water, ion's seek a balanced level.

Re: Distilled water
Google "why we shouldn't drink distilled water"
https://www.google.com/search?client=fi ... lled+water
and start reading....some of it from scientists which I would consider "expert" and some of it from lay people and thus "opinion".
Form your own opinion based on what you read and be done with it.
There are places in the world where if I had a choice between tap water and distilled water to drink...I would obviously choose distilled because tap water was unsafe to drink for any number of reasons. I wouldn't want to do it for the rest of my life though.
Fortunately where I live...my tap water is quite safe so it's a non issue.
Now there might be some sort of rare medical situation where the minerals found in regular water and absent from distilled water might be causing a negative effect on the body in some fashion....that is something that is between you and your doctor though....very rare and certainly not common and thus not a good enough reason to make a blanket statement about safety of distilled water.
I had a dog that was getting bladder stones...so along with a special diet he got distilled water to drink because his bladder stones were mainly limestone composition. Tap water here is high in limestone...so we wanted to reduce the chance of more bladder stones forming. He had to have a special diet to offset the good minerals the distilled water was lacking so that he got all the needed nutrients his body needed.

Re: Distilled water
I've see a few posts not unlike this lately.
Don't like what someone says, or if they say something that conflicts with what you believe, or even worse, your Doctor, demand their credentials. I think you've come to the wrong place. There are a lot of very smart people here, but I'm guessing the absolute majority don't have the credentials you're looking for.
If someone says something you don't agree with, do a little research. Don't get all knotted up, demanding credentials from some anonymous forum account, that you can't validate anyway.
And where's your demands for expertise and background checks when you're asking for advice on setting up your device? Cripes, one of the most qualified and experienced people on your healthcare team screwed up the configuration of your device.
And when the settings didn't match what you thought it should be, instead of actually verifying it yourself, you still accepted what the technician said. Instead of questioning the technician, you were willing to accept there was a problem with the device or software.
The reason you're here in the first place is because your doctor isn't giving you the treatment you need.

Re: Distilled water
"The WHO and others studied the use of distilled water and found that because it is stripped of all minerals it can cause electrolyte imbalances in your body. Your body will leach electrolytes from your tissues in order to add them to the mineral free water you are drinking. This is necessary so that your body can function normally and eliminate waste. If the water redistribution process in your body is not functioning properly, you may experience fatigue, weakness, headache, muscle cramps and an abnormal heart rate."

"According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, "Distilled water, being essentially mineral-free, is very aggressive, in that it tends to dissolve substances with which it is in contact. Notably, carbon dioxide from the air is rapidly absorbed, making the water acidic and even more aggressive. Many metals are dissolved by distilled water."

Statement from Dr House: Everyone lies! You never for sure know about everyone on the Internet, you may not really know about everyone that you live with daily, life is complex, most of what we think is wrong, it's based on what we see and hear over time. That doesn't make what we think right, it's up to us to think for ourselves to sort it all out.
We all pass on what we have learned correct or not, it's up to you to drink our Cool-Aid or Not! By not Tasting our Cool-Aid, and not making up your own mind, you lose out! Jim
By drinking Distilled Water, you might miss out on the added Fluoride (Poison), Roundup and Lead, unless it's added back after distilling.

A colleague of mine drank only distilled water, STRONGLY believing it was the "safest" water.
Knowing her stubborn reputation, I refrained from trying to set her straight.
Besides, she was "management"--figured she'd find out eventually . . .
