I was just told I should be at 20cms fixed.
Just wondering if anyone else has that pressure setting?

Re: Anyone on 20cms fixed CPAP?
It's been the general consensus of this forum for many years that a therapy pressure that high should be on a BiPAP/Bi-level machine.katestyles wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 6:08 pmI was just told I should be at 20cms fixed.

If that's their recommendation, I'd suggest asking them to switch you to a bi-level machine.
Initially, I was prescribed a pressure of 18 cm., I tried that setting, but found it a little rough to start with, so I changed the pressure to something that I felt was a compromise and found that a pressure of 10 cm. actually treated me quite well. Over the last 14 years, I've gradually increased my pressure to 14 cm. If I was going to go to or above 16, I'd be acquiring a BiPAP machine.
But, yeah, there have been a few folks who have used straight CPAP at 20 cm.

I am on bilevel. My first prescription was for a fixed pressure from 20-24 with a ps of 4. I couldn't hack it. After much complaint, tears, and frustration where I almost turned in my machine and said I am done, they finally backed it down to auto 8-24 which still wasn't working very well. Then I found this forum. I've slowly been able to raise my epap and am up to, I think, 10.6 -24. Which gives me an ahi of under 1 most nights.katestyles wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 6:08 pmI was just told I should be at 20cms fixed.

I agree that most people with pressure that high have bi-level machines. When I first started, my pressure was set at 20-25 cm with pressure support of 5. I am now running 18-25 with pressure support of 4. With a pressure of 20, your machine is putting out it's maximum pressure all night long. Ask them to change you over to the Resmed Aircurve 10 VAUTO.
