Newbie questions
Re: Newbie questions
I had very few of the symptoms, but I had nightmares so bad I would hate going to bed.
All gone now with APAP.
Happy nights are here again.

Yes. I have panic and anxiety disorder, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and I am overweight. I weigh 250 and I'm 5’11” tall. I do take blood pressure medication, anti depressant, anti anxiety, cholesterol med, and baby aspirin. Also pre diabetic so I take metformin. I also take a beta blocker.
Re: Newbie questions
I have no idea what symptoms you are having and if any of those are from sleep apnea or not but a lot of the symptoms of sleep apnea are also symptoms of the usual not so nice side effects of a lot of medications.
So take all your meds and research all the known side effects to see if part of your symptoms could possibly be related to medication side effects. I am not saying that all your problems are meds related...only saying that the side effects may be playing a factor.
I take a blood pressure pill that is supposedly rather benign and the other day I actually researched it and found out that it can cause fatigue and back pain....and insomnia. Go figure that one. All of which I have...but I also know that my back issues are primarily arthritis related but it was a surprise to find out that my blood pressure medication can maybe make it worse.

Re: Newbie questions
Some antidepressants can make you sleepy and have an added effect with sleep apnea. I know that personally, my daytime sleepiness was so bad that I was unable to get through the day without napping. And it wasn't like a 30-minute power nap, but consistently 3 or more hours.Eblo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 6:20 pmYes. I highly recommend looking into all medications because sometimes adjusting when you take them can be a big help. Since starting CPAP, and taking my medications at night instead of in the morning, I've noticed significant changes.

I found this long list of symptoms particularly helpful, as it listed more things I was experiencing rather than the shorter list Chicago Granny posted -

sometimes in order to succeed it just takes one more try. and a lot of frustration along the way.
Re: Newbie questions
I have been on CPAP for 45 days. Going very well with AHI under 1 every night. Pressure set to 9. One of the most notable sensations besides sleeping better, dreaming more, and feeling a bit more energetic during the day and early evening.... is that my anxiety feelings have gone away. I was very claustrophobic and had anxiety sensations throughout the day before CPAP. Those anxiety feelings are gone. My blood pressure has also normalized from 140/95 to 120/80 with consistent readings. I was diagnosed with mild Sleep Apnea with 24 events per hour. I have really come to appreciate the role sleep plays or lack of sleep plays in my overall health.

Good catch. My list failed to mention this symptom that is included in your link:dogsarelife wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 9:48 pmI found this long list of symptoms particularly helpful, as it listed more things I was experiencing rather than the shorter list Chicago Granny posted -

This would net snide comments from his wife.

From my experience (second wife) I did not need to have SA to get those. Probably well deserved.

'Tis a very common side effect I would imagine, yet somehow doesn't show up on any medical diagnostic sites

Re: Newbie questions
Went to my GP today. He put in a referral for a study. He didn't really have an explanation for some of my symptoms other than my anxiety and panic. Hopefully I will get some answers soon. I think I rather have the at home study.

Re: Newbie questions
He thinks I might have apnea. Some of my other symptoms could be because of my panic and anxiety disorder. My blood tests are normal, EKG is normal, no abnormal heart or lung sounds. No wheezing or obstruction just some post nasal drip. I have an appointment with a pulmonologist on Friday because I had a CT scan and it said minimal emphysematous changes which is freaking me out. My stress and anxiety is through the roof as well as my depression.

Re: Newbie questions
My money is on apnea being the cause of panic and anxiety disorder. Treatment can make a whale of an improvement.
I would concentrate on "minimal". That should be good news. Are you currently exposed to anything that would make the condition worse?
