Respiratory events only during REM sleep
I finally got a CPAP today after about six months of waking up gasping for air at night, but I almost didn't even get the prescription after my home sleep test said I was still pretty "normal". Looking at my home sleep test results it only showed a lot of events during what it interpreted as REM sleep, but the rest of my sleep averaged out to "normal" numbers (I did the test with the head of the bed elevated too, because I'm too afraid to sleep flat anymore even for the test). Just interrupting REM sleep constantly though has made me feel never quite rested for a long time now, even though my sleep was improved with the adjustable bed base. Anyway, was just wondering if anyone else experiences this types of OSA as well?

Hi and welcome. I have more events in REM sleep than not. ALso, it tends to happen for me that I need more pressure to cover REM events than my events in Non-REM sleep.
It might be a good idea to read up a little bit about sleep architecture and all the usual times REM sleep tends to occur during the night. Like the fact that REM sleep is short earlier in the night and tends to increase in the latter part of the sleep cycle for most people, barring medications that prevent this from happening or change up sleep architecture or I guess other conditions I don't know about.
Also below is a great site on the equipment you want/how to talk to your DME in case the CPAP you got doesn't suit you. Seems like most people recommend getting the AutoSet for Her 10 as your base machine, esp if you have REM specific OSA because it has an extra algorithm that will adjust to your REM specific OSA over the course of the night better as compared to the AutoSet 10.

Don't forget to download sleepyhead (just google it I say) to track your therapy, and come back and post your charts properly formatted as per the sticky link "how to format sleepyhead for newbies" which I am too lazy to link to, because you will likely want help optimizing your pressures.
