Interesting article. Thanks for sharing.

It is interesting on their conclusions about the choice of anesthesia and the elderly.

Mom had Lewy-body dementia. When her ability to swallow without aspiration into her lungs was affected, she choose during a particularly lucid few hours to have a feeding tube implanted. Educated by her neuro and knowing she reacted catastrophically to psychoactive drugs, I had him consult with the gastro on what to use for sedation -- they elected to use Fentanyl with a half dose of Benedryl. Her baseline cognitive function was unaffected -- hooray as that had been a huge concern. I posted this link in a LBD group for others whose loved one might need anesthesia. I am also going to send this link to her neuro.

Thanks for posting!
