Newbee question, please see my charts

Post by alvaro212 » Thu Feb 28, 2019 2:32 pm

Hi,

I wanted to try and see if I could get a bit more detail in this forum.

Please see my images below, would appreciate any recommendations.

Also, here is a good article describing the effects of OSA. https://www.nytimes.com/guides/well/sleep-apnea-guide
It made me realize how important the use of the machine really is to your well being. Previously I thought the worst was just having a drowsy day but that's not even the least serious side effect.

Best regards,

Hi,
Last time I went to see my ENT all I got was "You are still waking up 4 times per night, manually increase your CPAP to 20".
welcome to the zoo. this forum is finicky about posting stuff. please read here and try to get those charts to us once again-

Your minimum pressure is much too low. Your medium pressure was a little over 11 cm. I would recommend you raise your minimum pressure to 10 cm. If you feel this is too much of a jump to make at once, then start at 6 cm and go up 1 or 2 cm every few days.

Thanks, I'll try that and hopefully the added pressure will not a problem.

Thanks again to everyone for their recommendations. It's been a while since I changed my settings as recommended and I see a definite improvement.
The change was to increase the minimum pressure from 4 to 9 and EPR to Ramp Only at 3cmH2O.
My AHI scores are now in the 2-3 range from the 4-5 I was getting before.
I'm striving to get that AHI number down to zero, please have a look at the new chart I uploaded.
Hoping to hear any recommendations you may have.
Best regards,

The ahi chart is useless, the pressure chart is important, remove the ahi and mask pressure charts and make the others bigger to fill the space.

Best regards,
thanks for coming back to give us an update! please arrange the charts as palerider advises. this will make it easier for the experts here to give you helpful suggestions.

also, try to bear in mind that you're goal isn't necessarily to chase that elusive zero ahi. it's really hard to obtain. and having zero ahi doesn't mean that you will automatically have a perfect and restfull night's sleep. you may want to make your goal the best night's sleep you can get, waking up rested and refreshed.

as forum member jnk said recently, he wants to get his ahi as low as he can get but NOT the lowest he can get.

good luck!

Chasing zero is an exercise in futility, and a perfect example of diminishing returns. The closer to zero you get, the less good it does.

5 to 2? big difference.
2 to 1? small difference
1 to 0.5? probably nothing you'll ever notice.
0.5 to 0.25? even less difference, etc.

Thanks, just uploaded a new version of the diagram.
So it seems the search for zero AHI may not be the best approach, just getting a good night's sleep may be enough and that is certainly improving, understood.

Good points, thanks. Looks like now I'm doing much better than when I began, looking forward to continued rest.
