The disposable ports are a bit expensive, but the adhesive tape itself is probably not too bad. I would think that there could be another sheet of "patch strips" for those times when the seal was not perfect for whatever reason?
Perhaps 1/8 inch by 3/4 inch strips that you could peel off and fix a little leak blowing by the eye or maybe you could re-wipe with alcohol an area that came loose and "patch" with an emergency strip? Clearly, you don't want to be wasting an entire "dream port" for a small leak.
Actually what I do is use the trimmed off pieces as a patch if I think something doesn't look quite right or if I wake up and it's really bad loose I might just stick several of those little pieces over the loose area. So far though I haven't had that big of a failure of the adhesive even when I didn't follow directions.
I'm trying to use the cut-off portions of tape to shore up my mouth tape-job at the corners of my mouth. Time will tell if this is effective. The first night doing this gave me good results - but sometimes I get good results. We'll see.

Out of what I *thought* was necessity(I'm a moron sometimes - hopefully we can leave it at that), I slept with my old mask(s) last night.
First used my N30i - immediately noticed the restricted airflow compared to the Bleep. I wasn't expecting this. It got so bad that I switched to the Dreamwear. This seemed a bit better, and I settled in. Then the headgear became noticeable. I had a terrible time falling asleep. Took nearly an hour and a half.
I'm just shy of two weeks using the Dreamport. I'm surprised - even shocked, that these formerly comfortable to me masks bothered me so much after such a short break from them. If there's ever a "next time" for these masks, at least I'll know what to expect - it ought to be easier.

Funny how we can get spoiled so quickly isn't it? And end up noticing little things that we didn't really notice before.
I had a short period of time when I had to go back to the P10 because I ran out of ports...it wasn't a horrible experience but I sure didn't like seeing those lines on my face again.
I will keep the P10 as my back up mask....for naps because I don't want to "spend" the ports on a short nap or when I might have a snotty nose or something and the adhesive might have trouble if I can't stop the runny nose well enough.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

I think spoiled is the perfect term. Still surprised how quickly I "un-adjusted".
I'll keep them around for sure - never know what may come up. But naps, I've only been able to take one since starting therapy. I've tried probably a half dozen times.

Since you have nothing worthwhile to contribute, as usual, why don't you just not post at all?
It was meant as humor, but seriously, wouldn't it be dangerous restricting the exhale? That's why masks have vents. Re-breathing air is not healthy.

Super excited about DreamPort being released. Thank you for the reviews!!! Will look to try it out soon on my own and provide some feedback. Not on cpap.com, so had to preorder somewhere else. Looking forward to no leak and not having headgear.

Are you talking about our addition of the filter material or gauze as a diffuser or what the Provent does?
If you are talking about our homemade diffusers....I thought I covered that part....it's totally safe and actually we are just doing now with our homemade diffuser what is in the plans to be offered later for the Bleep/DreamPort from the manufacturers themselves.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

I was referring to my image of the ProVent. I would expect it to possibly be dangerous re-breathing air.
I see you guys are not obstructing flow with the Bleep, but that is how the ProVent claims to function without a machine.

If you dig deep into how Provent works and what the patient is supposed to do to make Provent work...they are supposed to inhale through the mouth....then keep the mouth shut and exhale through the nose. You don't really inhale through the nose all that much.
The air flow is really restricted for both inhale and exhale with Provent. Not a wonder it didn't catch on. Supposedly when you fall asleep you can be comfortable enough with inhale and exhale being so restricted.
I did try it. No way I could even sleep breathing with it...it was awful....but I do know a couple of people who manage to do it but it was only for special occasion when cpap simply wasn't an option. One person went on a trek high into the Andes...and simply wasn't possible to do the battery thing.

What is the "it" you're referring to?
Are you failing to be funny, again?

Yes, please...can we stick on topic. This thread is going to be difficult enough to follow without mixing in the Provent stuff.
It's going to be a lengthy, multi page thread.
If someone wants to further the Provent discussion....start another thread please.
Now if anyone wants a comparison to another mask....by all means ask about how it might compare to whatever mask in whatever area you are wondering about. I don't mean you can't mention other masks...just relate them to current topic.

Hi Pugsy
I had question about the Dreamport venting and putting a homemade filter to diffuse. Would all the co2 still be able to come out of the vent? This is the only thing that makes me nervous. I would want something to spread out but not block the co2. Any recommendations. Thanks in advance.

To Pugsy, djams, and PR
Can you say something about the adhesive? Does it remind you of other kinds of adhesives? I've never had a problem with a bandaid. But I often have problems with hospital tape. (Non-paper type.) I can't even use sensitive Breathe Right strips. They'd leave a red patch for a couple of days.
Although I like my P10 best, I do find the headgear fiddly in the middle of the night. And then that dislodges the pillows. I've got a lot of hair and it just doesn't stay put. I'm between M and L pillows and go back and forth, hoping expectantly.
Thanks for the reviews,
E25
