Soap taste

Post by Gr8fulG » Sun Feb 10, 2019 1:36 pm

When cleaning cpap and access with soap-does
It leave a taste? I’m super sensitive to
Soap ( has my mouth washed out with it too many times)
What is the correct vinegar to water usage?
I currently take my machine, tubing, mask to the dealership they clean it for free each month.
Like to DYI.

A scented soap will possibly leave a residual *smell*, but I've never licked any of my cpap stuff, so I can't speak to *taste*.

I use unscented dishwashing soap to clean stuff, and that's always worked very well.

Other than trying to get cigarette stink out of silicone innerds of the machine, I've never bothered to vinegar anything, except the tank, to remove mineral deposits.

Hi, most wash their masks at least weekly, with mild dish or other soap, tho' may get away with baby wipes too - I wouldn't want to leave it for a month.

Most, however, don't bother with the hose at all - even for decades - unless you're aware of something (live :) ) have gotten in, tho' covering your mask in the am should take care of that.

Wiping the outside of the machine once in a while should be all that's needed otherwise... I wouldn't bother with someone else doing anything of mine - even monthly.

I usually clean my dreamwear nasal mask piece, after washing my hands, over the bathroom sink each morning after my shower. I rub handsoap on the nasal mask, crevices and all, then rinse it with water and let it dry all day on a towel. I don't notice a taste because it doesn't come into contact with my mouth. I don't notice any smell either, except maybe a little residual soap smell.

hi,guan! just wanted to pop in to give a tip, if you don't mind. there is no need to wash your mask every day. in fact, you'll get less serviceable life out of it if you do.

you might want to try wiping it with unscented baby wipes everyday, instead.

just a thought.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I wipe mine with cotton pad soaked with rubbing alcohol in the morning. By nighttime I can't smell anything.

Daily, I wash silicone mask parts with Dawn, rinse, spray with 100% plain old white vinegar (gets rid of soap residues/odor) & let sit for a minute or 2, rinse very well, then air dry. The one part is from 2016 and the other is from 2017. I also wash face just before maskup as any oils prevent my getting a good seal.

The one part is getting filmy/hazy, so it's time to boil in distilled water with a teaspoon of baking soda (bicarbonite of soda).

I can't stand the smell of soap scent. After I wash my mask, I soak it in water for a couple of hours. Then I wipe down the mask with a baby wipe and dry with a towel. Then I repeat with a baby wipe. Not only does this remove any soap residual, it will remove the scent smell.

On occasion, I wipe the outside of the machine with a damp rag. I'll probably replace the hose every 9 months or so.... tho' I probably don't need to.

Thanks Zonker. The mask cleaning wipes are another good way to clean the mask.

Doorbell licking:
Now there's a fetish!
Unscented baby wipes--just that, unless science happens in the tank.
Then it goes in the sink with hot water and Dawn.
After I rinse it good, maybe a swirl with cheap vodka to kill the stragglers.
Baby wipes taste bad--vodka, not so much.

I too hate it when the emerging civilizations in my water tank start doing science!
