I think I always know that it's on my face... sometimes I do wonder if the machine is running through.zonker wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 10:09 pmjnk IS rather good at that, isn't he?NewBreath wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 8:24 pm
This is actually the best explanation I need. I use an adjustable CPAP and I'm very new at this. The pressure starts at 6, and after I'm asleep, the increased pressure disrupts my sleep. So it seems eventually I will get used to it and I will sleep through it. Has that been the case with the rest of you?
i can guarantee you that one day, you will be laying in bed and you will think to yourself "did i remember to put my mask on?". you'll reach up to touch it just to make sure.
it WILL happen. i just don't know WHEN.
good luck!

I can feel it brushing against my lip lightly, depending on which way the hose is going. But, yea, it's very minimalist... which is one of the things I like about it.

Re: How to breathe against constant pressure
You will get to the point where you won't think much about it. You will know something is missing if you lay down and try to sleep without it. You might try listening to a podcast, music, or read while using your machine so your brain is distracted. Don't try to change your breathing, just breathe like you normally do and let the machine do the work. Overthinking gets us in trouble...I am very experienced at it.

Hi. I have same machine as you. I have my expiratory settings (flex) up to the max and there is no pressure whatsoever. Machine kinda breathes with me. It works with me even when I breathe irregularly. So your problem is the settings.

Re: How to breathe against constant pressure
You may not notice the pressure, but there is pressure.
And, there are many of us who don't like and don't use expiratory pressure relief. So, this ...
... is not necessarily true.
Re: How to breathe against constant pressure
Thank you for that Chicago Granny. That's just my humble opinion obviously. The OP, like me, doesn't like the pressure. Sure isn't anything worth a try!!

Re: How to breathe against constant pressure
Humble opinion or not, you shouldn't post things that are patently false, as the "no pressure" comment was... and telling the OP that their settings were "wrong" without knowing anything about them... also quite bad.

Re: How to breathe against constant pressure
To OP. Please let us know how you solved the problem? Did you change the flex setting to 3 or is yours locked? Best of luck.

Re: How to breathe against constant pressure
Eh. It is on mine. The lock symbol is on. I don't know why the nurse/salesperson locked it in as she gave me a choice of what level I wanted flex at. Had to give herself something to do when she came to my house I suppose. But I'm very very happy with flex at level 3. It gives a very natural breathing out feel. Wouldn't change it anyway. But I'm in Europe (Ireland) so rules here may be different from US. Cpaps only available here on prescription. You cannot just buy one on the internet. They have to be set up by trained professional medical personnel in your home. They do not arrive in the post as I hear others describe!!
