CPAP Use In Europe
We're leaving the USA for Italy & France very soon and I want to make sure that my power converter will properly power my Resmed 9. The power brick shows 90w and 100-240v.

Also, assuming I don't find distilled water there, I probably will just go without my humidifier as I'm concerned about tap water even in the USA.
I'm MUCH more concerned about an infection in my nasal passages than concerned about the machine.
My primary question though is about power.
Thanks,
Dave

If you're concerned about tap water use bottled water while there. You'll probably get more mineral sediment, but that's easily cleaned off.

Re: CPAP Use In Europe
No problem with power you will need an adapter to convert your plug to the french style but just a simple converter no need for a transformer, your power brick will do that for you as it work on both 110v and the 220/240v found in Europe.
Something like this would be fine and could charge your phone as well
https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-TESSAN-U ... B07FJWLLDB
I would use any water that is fit to drink so either tap water or still bottled water. When you return home you may need to clean up the humidifier tub with some lemon juice or white vinegar due to the mineral deposits. That is why distilled water is recommended in the US there is no health risk. In fact my UK Resmed manual says use Water no mention of distilled.

Re: CPAP Use In Europe
I have traveled in numerous European countries with myCPAP, even back before the "universal" 110-240 V power supply and had no problem. (Actually carried a small transformer in the years before universal voltage supply.) You definitely will need a "kit" of plug adapters available at AAA or virtually any travel supply site. And like another poster, I had no water problems. My philosophy is if I can drink it, it is OK for the humidifier. Of course you may need to wash the water chamber in vinegar when you get home. However, I had no particular problems finding distilled water.
I hope you have a good trip!

You shouldn't waste money on something like that.dangerousdave wrote: ↑Sat Feb 02, 2019 8:02 amWe're leaving the USA for Italy & France very soon and I want to make sure that my power converter will properly power my Resmed 9. The power brick shows 90w and 100-240v.

This is all you need: https://smile.amazon.com/GPK-Systems-Eu ... +plug+cord
Tap water is fine, You're not going to get an infection from tap water in your humidifier. The *ONLY* reason that the manuals say to use distilled water in the US is *convenience* of not having to clean out mineral buildup.
In Europe... the manuals say "use water", not "use distilled water".

Re: CPAP Use In Europe
Hi dangerousdave,
I live in the UK, and have travelled extensively in Europe.
The people saying 'use tap water' are right up to a point. But not everywhere. The tap water in some parts of Italy, the locals don't drink it without boiling it.
You can use bottled water – but know that, nowadays, bottled water in Europe comes in several different varieties.
There is bottled water which has added minerals or comes from a source which provides extra minerals. And there is bottled water which has a much lower level of minerals than the average city tap water.
Both of these - extra or added minerals, and naturally fewer minerals – come in the carbonated or fizzy variety as well as the still or non-carbonated variety. So you have several permutations. And any given store or shop or cafe/ restaurant may not have all of them.
I agree with all those who say (1) a high level of minerals isn't that big of a deal, and (2) any residue is easy to remove with lemon juice or white vinegar when you get back – 'cos it's true.
But if you have any reason not to trust the tap water, there is another option. When in Italy ask for:
aqua de sorgente – senza gas – e con minimo minerale
water of spring – without gas – and with minimum minerals.
Have a good trip.

" . . . concerned about an infection in my nasal passages . . ."
Infection comes from numerous sources--cpap is not even on the list.

Home & All Worked Well
Thank you all for your great help. We have returned and my CPAP machine performed just fine and using tap water. I'll clean the reservoir today.
