No negatives to it unless you happen to be a part of a very tiny minority where PS can cause centrals to pop up.
Extremely small minority...give it a try and see what the results are. Won't hurt a thing to try for one night and you might fall in love with it.

The first time I ever tried bilevel...I was testing a used machine that was to go to a friend and after one night I said to myself..."I gotta get me one of these machines". I fell in love with it immediately...felt so much more natural to me and I learned that I actually slept a little better and a little longer using it. Win-win for me.
I sent the machine to her and told her if she hated it that I would gladly take it back. She used it one night and her reply was "over my dead body" "you would have to pry it out of my cold dead hands to get it back".
So I had to go find myself another one...which I did fairly quickly and thus started my bilevel journey.
I am using apap right now and of course the EPR/PS of 3...I prefer 4 but this one is close enough in comfort to keep me happy and I got this machine to specifically try the "for Her" special apap algorithm...and I like it. So in no rush to get another bilevel unless I find a stupid cheap price on the AirCurve 10 VAuto and I have the money set aside to snatch it up.

There's no harm in trying it so you can really enjoy what it offers. Chances of it being a problem with centrals...very slim and if it is a problem there are ways to deal with it.

Great news!

Thanks for all the help ...

I was getting a bit worried after the visit to the (dumb) technician yesterday.

I found this machine on a local 'for sale' website after looking for quite a while. Being a cheap er frugal guy I hate paying full price. It's brand new with all the packaging etc but the mfg's labels were removed from the box. ... maybe has a seedy history behind it. I paid $400 Canadian or $305US so worth the troubles getting it setup.

Now to try it out with the mask I got on loan for $45 from them. I had some mouth leaks with nasal pillows and would tape my mouth. Kind of nasty with glue residue etc.

This new Dreamwear full face seems so much less intrusive than the old ones with the air supplied in the straps and the silicone nasal ports and the covering for the mouth.

I'm keen bring on the night LOL

Oh what exactly is 'For Her' do women breath differently?

First rule of successful cpap therapy... ignore *everything* the DME/technicians tell you, and about 3/4ths of what (most) doctors say.

AutoSet for Her mode
AutoSet for Her mode is based on key aspects of ResMed’s AutoSet algorithm and delivers
therapeutic responses tailored to the characteristics of female OSA patients.
The AutoSet for Her is similar to ResMed’s AutoSet algorithm with the following modifications:
• Reduced rate of pressure increments designed to help prevent arousals.
• Slower pressure decays.
• Treats apneas up to 12 cm H 2 O (12 hPa) and continues to respond to flow limitation and snore up
to 20 cm H 2 O (20 hPa).
• Minimum pressure (Min. Pressure) that adjusts according to the frequency of apneas:
If two apneas occur within a minute, the pressure reached in response to the second apnea will
become the new minimum treatment pressure until the next treatment session.
Patients who use AutoSet for Her will still get the benefits of ResMed's AutoSet technology
including improved sensitivity to flow-limitation and Central Sleep Apnoea Detection with Forced
Oscillation Technique.

Amazing what you can find reading the clinical manuals :D

seek and ye shall find LOL

so women do actually breath differently .... sorry but I'm kind of skeptical about that but who knows with the kinder gentler sex ... maybe they have kinder gentler breathing as well

I can't decide if I should tell the company about that technician's misinformation, hmmmmmm

Everyone breaths differently....doesn't matter the gender.

ResMed just decided to target women because women often feel left out of things.

The for Her algorithm specifics....the advantages would/could just as easily benefit the male of the species but ResMed elected to make out like they did this just for women as more of a marketing ploy IMHO.
