Finally getting tested

So a couple of years ago my then GF told me I stop breathing in the night often and I know I snore loudly. Sometimes I am so tired after work I have to pull over and sleep for a few minutes to make it home. I ordered the home test from 1800cpap but they are on back order for a couple more days, so it will be just a little longer before I find out if I have OSA or something else. Anyway, lots of great info on this forum so I am enjoying digging through the old posts and learning between now and the time I get the test results.

When it comes time to buy CPAP equipment, will you use insurance or pay out of pocket?

A couple of things for you going forward assuming that you do have apnea.
1. get a full copy of your sleep studies. You are entitled to your medical records, you may need them later, more likely will need them.
2. get a copy of your prescription, technically a prescription is needed to purchase a CPAP machine and a mask in the US. A Paper copy would be great.
3. you want an Auto machine because they are more versatile. You want a machine that is fully compatible with Sleepyhead because that tool is the best to help interpret what is happening.
4. This machine you will have until it wears out in 5+ years.

There are more things to look for like Run hours, not therapy hours to make sure that you are getting what you want

I recommend the ResMed line because they react faster to events and their EPR can act as a bilevel (next machine up) up to the limit of 3cmw Pressure Support if needed.
