CPAP Pillow or different mask?
So, I have noticed some of the beat up face I'm having is probably where the mask sits on the sinus' at night then you lean over and it's shoving against you. Would a CPAP pillow, or modifying a pillow, fix this? Or should I be looking for a different mask ?

It seems that most of the full face masks are going to go out that far?

I use Amara View full face mask, it doesn't go up to the forehead. Another option to consider?

Re: CPAP Pillow or different mask?
Good Lord these are some high dollar masks though. I suppose I might want to call the medical company/DME as it's called here, and see what insurance can do in a few months ?
They wont cover a mask right now, so it'd be out of pocket, then I'd need to call in and make sure the cushions or whatever you change monthly they can supply too?

I think insurance will pay for a totally new complete headgear set-up every six months? I recently tried the Dreamwear full-face mask, wasn't for me so I stayed with the Amara View. The manufacturer gives a 30-day trial period, so I didn't have to pay for the Dreamwear since it didn't work out. Double check on your insurance & DME rules, I'm sure they're all different.

Yeah, 6 months . I started in Novemeber, got scared back on it by pulmonlogist in Dec, got to meet compliance and stop all these things driving me crazy along the way to meet compliance by May.Chris8243 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 10:38 pmI think insurance will pay for a totally new complete headgear set-up every six months? Compliance is easy if you use the machine every night for more than 4hrs, just bite the bullet and use the machine to the best of your ability gradually you will get used to itTheWeehawky wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 10:43 pm

If your getting marks on your face your mask is too tight, it should float on your face, most masks have a silicone cushion that inflates with the sair pressure so that it conforms to the shape of your face. Update your profile with your mask type so we know which mask you use

I listed it, since I didn't see it listed. And that's easier said than done. It's been an on going adventure.Jas_williams wrote: ↑Sat Jan 26, 2019 12:34 amCompliance is easy if you use the machine every night for more than 4hrs, just bite the bullet and use the machine to the best of your ability gradually you will get used to itTheWeehawky wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 10:43 pm

edit2: OK It was listed as Simplus, not F&P .

Another thought I had for you was to try " Pad A Cheek" who sells comfy strap cushions and mask liners for every type of mask. She's a member on here, website is
https://www.padacheek.com/
You'll pay out of pocket but it may help you get thru the compliance period (90 days?) and if you got your first supplies in November, only 3 more months until you can try a different head gear/mask set up, covered by insurance.

Consider my mask (click on it in my signature to view on our host's website www.cpap.com). Hybrid FFM with pillows and covers mouth so no loss of therapy air breathing via nose or mouth. I am a side sleeper. I am using the mask I bought in 2016. When the silicone parts get hazy/filmy, they get boiled in distilled water with baking soda to restore transparency and the original tackiness. I replace the headgear maybe every 12-18 months.
ResMed S9 range 9.8-17, RespCare Hybrid FFM

Re: CPAP Pillow or different mask?
I hope the compliance period just began soon, cause that's when I started using the thing more than 4 hours a day.. when I can. Like last night my throat was tingly and kept coughing. Just began the Allegra a few days ago, so trying to see what happens. Been having sinus issues my whole life, now we blowing cold air on them.Chris8243 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 26, 2019 3:33 amAnother thought I had for you was to try " Pad A Cheek" who sells comfy strap cushions and mask liners for every type of mask. Of course now that I didn't wear it... I fell like "What did I get up for?" again.
Part of why I think I should go on and see the ENT since pulmonlolgist just didn't want to hear it. (it = sore ribs, beat up sinus', sore throat, tonsils swollen maybe, blood out of left nostril a lot, right sometimes, etc..)

Re: CPAP Pillow or different mask?
Have you tried using it during the day? Wear it while you are awake and watching tv or reading. That helped me get used to it. It also helped make my compliance hours.

Yeah that's how I do it now, if I don't have 4 hours on it I'll try my best to use it sometime (before noon) I CAN use it if I'm too stopped up at night.Cynmatthes wrote: ↑Sat Jan 26, 2019 12:22 pmHave you tried using it during the day?
