Yes, ozone is harmful to your lungs, and that's why Sharper Image had to stop selling their "ionic breeze" air cleaners (they weren't sanitizers, and they didn't claim to be, they were *filters*... they'd cause stuff in the air to precipitate onto metal blades... and they worked quite well, but they produced some ozone as a side effect, and thus were pulled from the market. (I had several).

Re: New Product: SoClean Mask Wipes
My chronic sinus infections disappeared after I got my cpap therapy optimized. Plus, eliminated all nighttime trips to the loo and snoring (my wife wishes I had started cpap 51 years ago). Good luck, Earl

Re: New Product: SoClean Mask Wipes
Should I use the SoClean for the Mask Wipes or the Mask Wipes for the SoClean ???
This SoClean is just confusing.

This SoClean is just confusing.
How does the placebo effect work with the SoClean ??? You know or don't know if you used the SoClean

Placebos appear to work because of BELIEF.
Believers believe that noclean works, in spite of scientific EVIDENCE.
Placebos are not always lookalike pills.
Museums display outrageous devices in the medical quackery exhibits.
Someday noclean will take its place alongside other exposed fakes.

Further, studies show that even if you tell a person "this is a sugar pill, it'll make you feel better", then it does make them feel better... even if they are told it's fake, but they believe they'll feel better, they feel better.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 10:13 amPlacebos appear to work because of BELIEF.

Belief is weird in that it can be more powerful than logic.
It would be interesting to see the results of a study of why and how this happens.
Advertisers, politicians, and many others use it all the time.
We really need to understand it as well as those who use it for unfair advantage.

There have been many, many studies of the whys and how. The problem is . . .chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 1:17 pmIt would be interesting to see the results of a study of why and how this happens.
So, very difficult to study. Which is why it just has to be acknowledged and methodically factored out by the double-blind protocols used in all scientifically meaningful studies and especially trials. It's what every drug and every scientist competes against, in a sense. That article explores four of what some consider to be primary factors. And as a quote in that same article says . . .Placebo interventions vary in strength depending on many factors. For instance, an injection causes a stronger placebo effect than a tablet. Two tablets work better than one, capsules are stronger than tablets, and larger pills produce greater reactions. . . . One review of multiple studies found that even the color of pills made a difference to the placebo results. The placebo effect also varies between cultures. In treating gastric ulcers, the placebo effect is low in Brazil, higher in northern Europe and particularly high in Germany. However, the placebo effect on hypertension is lower in Germany than elsewhere. . . . The placebo effect changes from individual to individual, and its strength varies from one disease to the next. -- https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/306437.php
Personally, I would prefer to own a sham-SoClean than to own a real one. MUCH safer and more effective, IMO.Robert Buckman, clinical oncologist and professor of medicine, concludes that: "Placebos are extraordinary drugs. They seem to have some effect on almost every symptom known to mankind, and work in at least a third of patients and sometimes in up to 60 percent. They have no serious side-effects and cannot be given in overdose. In short, they hold the prize for the most adaptable, protean, effective, safe and cheap drugs in the world's pharmacopeia."

Re: New Product: SoClean Mask Wipes
Anything that reinforces faith in quackery, enhances the placebo effect.
Unfortunately, illusionists employ "psychic surgery" to extort money from desperate people;
whose faith helps them feel like they have been "cured",
--long enough to miss the benefits of real medicine in time.
Placebos are most useful in testing real drugs,
but they must look and taste identical to the tested product.
Placebo makers design custom formulations for each study.

So, if I believe, I can use my "SoClean" to sanitize the New Product: the "SoClean Mask Wipes". yea RIGHT,. my head may be able to, but my heart and my second brain "the gut" are not there yet. Too much air is going through that 2nd brain.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 6:51 amYes, it is wrong to "believe" in CPAP.
What is right is to "accept" the medical science that shows CPAP will hold your airway open while you are sleeping.![]()
