How does denture products work for keeping the mouth closed?

Post by Kelly » Thu Feb 15, 2007 7:25 am

I have seen many posts on using fixodent, or polident, or whatever it's called. How does this help and is it safe? Are people "gluing" the mouth shut?

Yes, to both................and you can add applying tape to the lips. I had an elastic strap to cover my mouth and use it in conjunction with a chin strap. (couldn't get the glue or tape to work in keeping my mouth shut) It's all quite safe. If you apply denture adhesives or even tape to the lips, it is easy to remove.

Kelly, the most convenient thing to try is Poligrip strips. Regular dental adhesive tends to be really messy and takes a while to remove in the morning. Poligrip strips are easily removed though with just a little moisture.

I used Poligrip strips for a while and they helped a little, but not enough for me to keep using them. Good luck.

Bill
