Does it get better?

Post by paxnn » Mon Jan 07, 2019 4:03 pm

Just started the end of Nov 2018. EP is 16, IP is 20 , PS is 4, O2 is 2L/min. I'm having problems with mask leaks. Do the pressure settings ever get lower. I see the Doc again at the end of March. Do I ask the Doc to lower the pressures? Will I need a new titration if I complain?

can you try adjusting your mask? if that doesn't help another thing is you can try another mask that may fit differently and that may stop the leaks

He gave you an auto machine and set it to a single pressure instead of a range of pressures. My first settings were Max IPAP 25, Min EPAP 15 with a PS of 5 which varied my IPAP from 20 to 25 and EPAP from 15 to 20. I currently have been using Max IPAP 21, Min EPAP 14 and PS 4 which gives me an IPAP of 18 to 21 and EPAP of 14 to 17. I made the changes my self after using Sleepyhead software to monitor my treatment.

Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

See the sticky for newbies at the top of the Announcements section on the main forum page.

Pressures can be lowered...and modes of operation can be changed so that the machine can maybe use lower part of the night and higher only when needed.

You have a machine that is highly customizable...and it's set up in such a manner it isn't using some of the best features it has available.

So yes...it can get better but takes some work and education and probably some changes to your machine to get you more comfortable with it.
