My first 30-day doctor visit

Post by JJR » Mon Jan 07, 2019 10:49 am

Success so far. I went from 56 events per hour to about 2, and have been using the machine 7-8 hours a night, so everyone's pleased. The doc prescribed a minimal dose of blood pressure medication since I've been consistently a little high and this should prevent future problems as I age. This would be the only prescription medicine I take. She said most people my age (54) are on ten different meds. But then, I generally avoid seeing doctors; no docs, no meds. She did recommend I see an internist for a prostate check, since I have "The Dribbles."

You're about at that age where you should get a yearly prostate check. Not comfortable, or dignifying, but required. Also think about a colonoscopy, you're at the age where finding something early is extremely preferable to the alternative.

Good stuff on the SA therapy by the way. I refuse to even lie in bed without having it on. Certain...ah, situations or provisos do apply of course, but I digress.

I had one prostate check and one colonoscopy a few years ago, but I do need to start making those annual indignities.

Colonoscopies are recommended one every five years for most people over 50. If they find something, if you have certain symptoms or diagnoses, or certain hereditary issues, they might recommend more frequently.

The prostate check is annual or more frequently.
