I started CPAPping Dec. 1, 2018 and it wasn’t as hard to get used to as I expected. It’s not perfect of course. I occasionally wake up from excess pressure puffing out my cheeks and blowing out the mask seal, so I’ll discuss that with my doctor on the first visit.
My sleep test showed 59 “events” per hour, and I immediately went down to 2-5 with the machine, I don’t need to sleep as long (7 hours is fine), and I’m less groggy in the morning. Plus, I wake up to go pee less often - zero to once, instead of 3-4 times a night.
As for dramatic changes, I can’t say there have been any, other than a less likely “died in his sleep” obituary.

Re: Newbie and one month in
Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you are adjusting to your new sleep partner. You are not alone in not feeling immediate improvement in how you feel. Many of us had gradual improvement over several months. I didn't really feel any noticeable improvement. However, after about three months, it suddenly dawned on me that I could sit and read without falling asleep, and I could sit and watch a movie on the TV without missing half of it. With an AHI of 2 to 5, your sleep is still being interrupted every 12 to 30 minutes. For me, the first benefits I really noticed is the same as you, I didn't need to get up and go to the bathroom several times every night. The best advice I can give right now is to hang in there. It will get better in the future, your body and brain are still adjusting to that alien thing on your face when you sleep.

Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

Being able to stay up and read, or finish a movie are great incentives, thanks for the suggestions! I'd actually given up on those, and use reading to put myself to sleep when needed.
One of my pairs of reading glasses is flexible enough to wear over the face mask, otherwise it would be impossible.

Nothing's perfect, but it sounds like you're making a great effort, and having noticeable results already... good on ya!
Also, I love the pic...

Re: Newbie and one month in
I picked up my CPAP on December 13th. I realize it's early, but I'm having lots of trouble adjusting. Under a separate post mentioned my neck problems. I laid off one night and noticed a difference. I assume it's not my pillow, but the mask and headgear
I also have the excess puffing. I take a Med before bedtime to help with dry mouth and stuffy nose. I apply a facial cream to control itch under the mask area.
Only two weeks in. I still awake exulted! I have zero energy. I take several naps during daytime. My doctor said it may tak up to 3 months to see a difference
Oh well!
