I'm new to these boards. My name is Jack from Long Island. 81 years old. I started two weeks ago with
RedMed Air Fit N10 Nasal. Had always been a stomach sleeper.
Never had a major problem with my neck. After a few days my neck and shoulders became extremely painful,
My balance is greatly effected. I'm having problems with dizziness while walking
Before CPAP never had this problem. Any thoughts
Merry

Christmas

Successful use of PAP therapy may necessitate a doc's reevaluation of drug dosages. It often isn't so much that CPAP causes problems. It is often more that CPAP is solving some problems to the point that drug use may need to be reassessed by one's doc based on one's input about what one is experiencing. Don't choose to stay in one position all night just because of using CPAP. Any time you wake up, you may want to consider changing your sleeping position to the extent that you reasonably can in order to lessen pain.

You may be staying in one position longer because you are sleeping better. Perhaps you have modified normal sleep position because of the mask. There are several possible reasons for your discomfort, not all of them associated with the use of the CPAP machine. If these symptoms persist, see your doctor.
Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

Thanks
My personal MD is aware of my Sleep Apnea. My medication has been the same or a need to change for months
I do constantly move my position. And make sure tubing doesn't obstruct my sleeping. I sleep on my back or side
Before CPAP use my neck experienced minimal pain and stiffness, especially upon arising. Since CPAP use the pain has increased
100%, plus headaches and balance problems, which I didn't have prior to.
Plan to see my Pulmonary MD next week

Neck pain is probably related to a slight change in normal sleeping position due to mask. You might need a different bed pillow.
Just now experiencing similar issues because I am at my daughter’s house for the holidays and her bed pillows are messing with my neck.
My neck has been killing me last 2 days.
For any dizziness issues or vertigo.....see your doctor. Not impossible to be related to cpap usage because of a little problem with the tubes that go from the nasal passageway to the inner ear. It’s rare but can happen. There are some things that can be done to maybe help things but first a chat with the doctor is in order to make sure nothing else is going on.

Thanks Pugsy! Great information
Is there a special pillow you recommend? Do you feel chin strap helps? I apparently breath via my mouth
Just tried an outside walk and felt the dizziness coming on. Never had this experience before CPAP. Will see doctor next week

And is it possible you are just wearing it too tight and so it's interfering with normal blood flow in your cervical area?

The pillow I like you might just hate. It’s all about what YOUR neck needs.
I think that when we add in the Cpap mask to our usual sleeping routine/position we sometimes put our face and neck in positions we aren’t used to or maybe we have some arthritis in the spine that acts up. Trial and error really is about all we can do.
But I do use a small buckwheat hull pillow when at home. My neck doesn’t like tall pillows and unfortunately that is what I have to choose from when visiting my daughter.
It’s a short visit and I make do.
