Found a PERFECT solution to CPAP Travel!

Post by azbeeking » Sat Dec 22, 2018 4:51 pm

Hey guys, I've been trying to work out a CPAP travel solution and buying a travel CPAP just doesn't appeal to me. I don't need battery power and every flight I've slept on there is plenty of space for my machine. I only travel for leisure so I always bring one large check bag and then a backpack with my computer, iPad, paperwork, a change of clothes and a rain shell, then I bring my CPAP along in its original bag. I've always wanted a solution that allowed me to bring my CPAP and my computer and clothing change(incase luggage is lost) in the same bag and I found it today at Costco of all places.

Now, If its is not allowed, please delete but Ive attached the link and a photo.

This bag is pretty awesome, I think its cool looking, has an upper compartment for my clothes and a pen, an outer pocket for my passport and ticket, a strap on the back to trolleyed on my check bag, and a PADDED compartment that fits my Resmed S9 like a glove. I just tested it and I fit my machine and humidifier, 6ft hose, full face mask, and power supply easily. The bag comes with a padded divider that I have taken out but the bag is already 2x more padded than my S9 bag.

Thanks for the tip! Just ordered one!

Merry Christmas to me! Will be nice to take just one carry-on bag instead of two.

Not the first time a camera bag has been suggested as a solution. Looks good.

Looks good.

I would make sure to tag this bag as Medical Equipment with a sturdy tag holder. You can print one yourself - http://api.ning.com/files/ft7Wq64roIMqe ... enttag.jpg

or, buy a complete tag - https://www.google.com/search?biw=1093& ... Vcah7r3_LM

I always use a sturdy tag even on my ResMed CPAP travel bag.

Why the tag, Chicago Granny? If you're over the carry-on limit, yes, I totally see the need, but do you always tag? Personally, I hate to draw attention to myself.

I recently flew to Canberra and back which meant flying on a turbo prop. The smaller plane meant that overhead luggage was a bit restricted and many passengers on the flight from Sydney to Canberra with larger carry on bags had to drop them at the plane for collection later. As my back pack is not that big the crew member checking at the Sydney terminal either decided that my two bags (backpack plus CPAP) would be OK or missed the extra bag completely. I was traveling without checked luggage.

Just to make sure that I didn't get penalised on the way back I found a "medical equipment" sticker and stuck it to the Resmed bag. Sure enough, on my way down to the plane the attendant wanted me to drop my backpack at the plane. As it contained my iPad, headphones, digital audio player I refused and she got quite upset. When I showed her the medical equipment sticker she said I should put that bag underneath the plane. I politely refused and suggested that if she had an issue with me carrying medical equipment onto the plane she should contact her supervisor for clarification as I had already had this conversation with Qantas well before I left home, just to make sure that this was OK. On a day when delays were already impacting services she let me go. It might have been interesting if things were running normally.

Bottom line, the "medical equipment' tag/sticker is a must have.

I always tag. The tag, a stern eye and a set jaw is a warning to TSA staff, crew members and fellow passengers not to f%@* with my equipment. If anyone wants to give me attention, I will give them more back.

BTW, will that bag go under the seat in front of you on a plane? I NEVER put my CPAP bag in the overhead bin where some clodpate or oysterwench might throw a piece of luggage on it.

I haven't traveled in some time now but it ALWAYS amazed me how careless people were tossing/slamming stuff into the overhead. Aside from general respect for their and others' property, don't they realize the other owner is sitting right there?

All I can say is.... good thing I wasn't on the steroids then
