I find this to be weird
hello I was just wondering i called my DME to request that they send me a new SD card for my bi-pap machine my question is why can't I just to to a local cvs or staples in my area and purchase a new card I mean they are technically the same card and they look the same on the outside one only diferances is that one says resmed and the other might say scandisk whats the difference between the two i'm always told that you have to use the resmed card that no other card will work which I find to be BS

Well....I have been using a Sandisk SD card that I got from WalMart in my last 3 machines...all ResMed.
Works just fine.
I used to have a ResMed stickered SD card but I lost it..that's why I went to WalMart.

Mine didn't come with a card. I went to cvs and bought the one on sale.

Be careful on the price. These companies have gone to higher capacity cards that they want to sell for $30 and up. I would get a low-capacity card for no more than $8 - 10. https://www.cvs.com/search?searchTerm=sd%20card
Re: I find this to be weird
You can. there's nothing special about the card from the DME other than the paper label on it.springman946 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 20, 2018 11:42 amwhy can't I just to to a local cvs or staples in my area and purchase a new card

Just make sure you dont go over 32Gb just buy the cheapest you can it will have way too much space
the 64GB wont be recognised by the machine.

Re: I find this to be weird
My sleep doc office once told me that the only thing they can stick in their computer to be read is a card with the name of my machine manufacturer on it, "Resmed." If they put anything else into the USB or Card Reader they would be fired. Something to do with Malware.

Maybe they don't keep their security software updated. Anyway, malware can be on a ResMed card as easily as on a generic card.purple22 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 2:23 pmMy sleep doc office once told me that the only thing they can stick in their computer to be read is a card with the name of my machine manufacturer on it, "Resmed." So, now you know how to get a Trojan into their system, pit it on an "official" SD card.purple22 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 2:23 pmMy sleep doc office once told me that the only thing they can stick in their computer to be read is a card with the name of my machine manufacturer on it, "Resmed."
