Provgil gives me awful headachs and I still sleep most of the day away and then I cant sleep at nights and the other meds. also doesnt help keep me awake and gives me chest pains. Provigil and its generics are the only thing I know of.

are you taking anything to fall asleep with at night? Those can leave you tired during the day.

Vitamin B complex would offer more energy. I use the Ginsengs supplements called Triple Energy, it seems to help fairly cheap. you can get it in the pharmacy section of Costco, think its about $15 for 300 softgels.

More can be found on it here:

Step one would be getting restful sleep. Do you maintain good sleep hygene, a regular schedule... Have you had a sleep study?

Meds to stay awake

Ava,
Provigil seems to be the first thing doctors try. I've also tried Concerta, which helped me think clearer. No medicine is going to help your sleepiness like quality sleep will. This time last year I was not allowed to drive without medication. Now I don't need it unless the drive is going to be more than a cross town jaunt. I encourage you to aggressively pursue getting the sleep you need. Believe me, I know that is more than a notion, as I'm still struggling. If you would like, feel free to share with us what your sleep issues are and what is being done. We'll help if we can. If not, we'll be in your corner for support. Above all, be safe and don't take risks.
Kathy
