my spouse pilfered my chin strap and since they’re so pricey here that I opted to try a cervical collar to keep my chin propped up while I sleep. It seems to be that the stores sell cervical collars that are 3.5” tall and I have yet to find a shorter one besides ordering one online.
I have a relatively short neck and strapping a 3.5” neck brace makes it feel like I am hyperextending my neck. Also ate there neckbraces with varying degrees of stiffness? Seems like the one I bought has some wicked stuff foam in it. Honestly I can sleep wearing one but it isn’t all that comfy.
Standard size for a cervical collar?

Have you googled 'soft cervical collars for cpap'? They're only a few inches high all around, not at all stiff or hard and aren't expensive at all. They're not for your neck, but just to keep it off your chest and so your airway is less obstructed, plus at least your jaw is less likely to open. But you need to try what you buy - adjust the velcro - to be sure your chin doesn't fall into the top edge.
Re: Standard size for a cervical collar?
Hi Julie, yes the issue is the ones is find at the drugstore are all 3.5” tall and I got wondering if that is a standard height for a collar.
Can you elaborate on what you mean by the collar isn’t for my neck? How else am I supposed to wear it to keep my chin from dropping into my chest or allowing my mouth to open?
I would assume that I would wear the collar around my neck as how it is designed and then lay down to sleep. The 3.5” collar does fit me (barely) but I find my bottom of my aches and then I take the collar off halfway through the night.
I am certain the collar is probably too tall for my short neck but I find it a bit odd that a stores here don’t stock any other size except a 3.5” tall one.
Online ordering is for sure an option but like anything I’d like to look and feel before I buy and online buying doesn’t allow for that and then if I don’t like the collar then I’d have to pay return shipping.

Re: Standard size for a cervical collar?
Sorry - meant that the cpap collars are not for whiplash - not like the tall and stiff ones they give you after a crash, etc... not at all the same things.
Re: Standard size for a cervical collar?
That I definitely know. The collars used in a car accident are aspen collars. The 3.5” collar I initially bought is a 3.5” soft collar but soft it is not. The foam is very firm and stiff.
I will go and seek a few other places to find one that fits better.
