CPAP batteries

I was pursuing the local craigslist and found someone selling 2 medistrom batteries for CPAP but the problem is that I can't tell if it is a Pilot 24 or a Pilot 12 battery.

The serial # label is missing and from Medistrom's website it doesn't give me any clear indication as to how to identify the differences.

I can only ascertain that the Pilot 24 will fit a ResMed Airsense 10 power supply while the Pilot 12 likely has a more standard size DC barrel connection that is used by Respironics devices.

Any experts here that can help tell me how to clearly identify them?

Do you need oven mitts to pick them up, or have they cooled down after removing the SN's! Jim

Lol totally! I was suspicious when the S/N labels were missing this I could it conform date of manufacture or even the model type.

No biggie. I don’t need batteries until I travel overseas at some point in my life but for now I am fine.

Sounds stolen . . .
Maybe CraigsList needs a heads-up on this creep.

Used batteries are a Crap Shoot, without warrenties and even with, just sitting is hard on them also misuse in care can cut life short, think of as a time bomb, when they are made they start ticking, the guess comes with the life left, and when death will come. Jim

Do the CPAP Police check if the batteries are stolen?

Yeah I was thinking about how their batteries would still be good if they didn’t have a charger for them. I didn’t look further into the matter as I have no need for batteries but it was something that piqued my interest for something for me to consider buying in the future.


Good tip on batteries. I will remember to buy new when I need them.

It would also be nice to know what pump and pressure you're using. This pack only has 15 Amp-hours at 12 volts - There aren't many setups that would run 4 nights with this pack, let alone 5.

I would be using a ResMed AirMini at pressures between 10-13 cms of pressure. Looking at the current draws charts published by resmed it looks like it draws about 0.5 amps at 12 volts DC. I would be using a Resmed DC/DC converter to step up the DC voltage to resmed’s weirdo 24 volts.

Run it with the cable and adapter that comes with it. 12v. Also I purchased a cig lighter cable so i can charge is by the car.

Cpap is Philips Respironics Sytem One Remstar. My settings are somewhat low at around 11. I'll get some more information on this tonight. There is also this beast.
