Great topic and useful information. Just a note, BIPAP and Bi-Level are the same mode to my knowledge. Not all manufacturers offer the same controls over some modes perhaps but that doesn't mean its a different mode. ASV and Auto SV are the same. One manufacturer's term, and there are many others from Resmed and Philips Respironics, may be different but the actual core mode is the same. This is often the same in ICU ventilators where the sleep machines actually got their modes from.

They're not a "mode". BiPAP™ is a registered trademark of philips respironics for their bilevel machines.

Bilevel machines allow for different inhalation pressures and exhalation pressures, there are many very different types of bilevel machines.

No, they're not, broadly speaking they're similar, but the execution of pressure delivery and response is different.
