Heated tubing vs Heated water tank

Post by ErnieH » Fri Nov 02, 2018 8:17 pm

I'm just curious. My first cpap had a heated water tank humidifier and I used a regular hose. My second was an S9 with both heated hose and heated tank. I used the tank with regular hose. My third is the AirSense 10 with heated hose and heated tank. Again, I use the heated tank. Since I've never used the heated hose and only used the heated tanks, is there any difference? If one is better then the other, then why have both? Is there an advantage to one over the other? I'm just wondering if it's worth trying the heated hose since the heated tank does so well. Thanks in advance.

The heated water tank is what generates the moisture/humidity that goes into the air that you breathe.

The heated hose only heats the hose air so that the air is either more comfortable or the air can hold onto the moisture in the air that is generated by the heated water tank. Warmer air holds more moisture than cooler air so you can get more moisture without condensation happening.
The heated hose doesn't generate moisture though...that's the job of the heater that goes to the water tank.
All the heated hose does is help maintain a more consistent humidity level without condensation annoying a person.
It's also useful simply to warm up the air if your bedroom air happens to be on the cold side and is too cool for general comfort.

I've found that using a heated hose makes a big (positive) difference for me. It makes it much more comfortable to use the machine. I highly recommend you try one.
