New to CPAP....Please respond
New to CPAP....Please respond
Started CPAP or I guess APap about 6 weeks ago...dr. Set an initial pressure range of 6 to 14. Using the ResMed A10 machine...First few nights I had lousy numbers with Ahi around 12 or so.... I raised the lower pressure from 6 to 7.. a little bit of improvement but not much. I then raised the top pressure from 14 to 15...began to see better Improvement as my averages slowly worked their way down towards Ahi of 6.... So was getting good results with the range of 7 to 15... Then suddenly my ahi numbers started trending back up and have continued to Trend back up so that my average AHI the last two weeks have been around 8 or 9.... Have not experienced a night below 6 Ahi. in 2 weeks... Have occasionally changed the top pressure from 15 to 16....but no matter where the top pressure is my sleepyhead data shows me that I'm always reaching that maximum pressure several times a night and having these clusters of obstructive apneas... These clusters last on average about 30 minutes and my pressure stays at the top of the setting for those 30 minutes while I have a dozen or so apneas during this 30 minutes... This happens like twice a night.... As I said no matter what my top pressure is I'll always go to that top pressure during these clusters.... Do I need to raise my top pressure above 16 you think? Or should I raise my bottom pressure to 9 or 10?... I seem to be able to handle the pressure well..I've taken to the therapy very easily. No claustrophobia no insomnia no major leak episodes and I'm thankful for all of that but I'd like to get my ahi down
...I read some people talk about having an ahi of .2 ...can't imagine I could get that low.. seems impossible. Again no matter how high I set the pressure I always go to that top range for several sessions each evening lasting 30 minutes or more.... Interestingly when I raise my top pressure my obstructive apneas seem to go down and my central apneas seem to go up. When I lower the top pressure , obstructive apneas go up and Central apneas go down....over the six weeks I've learned that I can handle a starting pressure of seven or eight with no issues and can fall asleep very easily. Could the solution be raising my bottom pressure to 9 or 10 since I have no trouble handling it?... I've read about something called over treating and I want to make sure I avoid that though. Any insight would be so appreciated.

Re: New to CPAP....Please respond
Which model of what machine do you have (e.g. Resmed has very many models), and maybe at least as important is what mask you're using because so often the mask is the problem, leaking where and when it shouldn't and allowing Cpap air to be lost that way.
Re: New to CPAP....Please respond
I'm using the latest model ResMed machine believe it's called the airsense 10. I use a full face mask the ResMed airfit F20... I don't think it's a leak issue as far as I can tell from the data the machine gives me and the data from sleepyhead.

Well if you have SH, why not post a couple of nights so we can all see what's going on instead of guessing.
Leave out the pie chart & calendar to leave room for results underneath.

I'm very technically challenged. How do I get those things posted here? I presume I'll have to use my laptop instead of my smartphone?

Go to Imgur.com, get set up there and then leave a link in this thread - careful about sizing - too small we can't read it, but if you do it right we can click the link and 'grow' it.

Re: New to CPAP....Please respond
Can someone please tell him/her how to do the Imgur thing - I never have - so he can post here?
Re: New to CPAP....Please respond
Do I need to do that imgur? Can I just save a screenshot or something? What is the benefit of the Imgur?

Go to the top of the list of topics, and read the first post. I believe it's called "Newbies: Read this before posting." It has a lot of information for newbies, including how to create and post screenshots of your Sleepyhead reports. And yes, you'll need to use your computer, rather than your smart phone. Good luck!

Re: New to CPAP....Please respond
when I do post my charts, will you just view them essentially as a screenshot or will you be able to have the usability where you can " shrink " or "stretch out" the various graphs?Hopeful50 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 7:16 pmGo to the top of the list of topics, and read the first post. They will just be a screen shot. If more detail is required, people here will tell you how to zoom in and post another screen shot.
