I would indeed agree.
Since you aren't using a humidifier at all the only place for the moisture (that is condensing in the mask) to come from is your own exhaled breath.
The cold ambient air is simply cooling the moisture laden air in the mask so that it condenses. The colder the outside air the faster the condensation will happen.

Can you not cover your head in the sleeping bag but leave the machine outside to draw in fresh air? I know people doing that even in the house. As long as the machine is outside the enclosed area it will draw in fresh air.

My hat's off to you girl...anyone that camps in freezing weather is a serious camper.

Haha - or slightly crazy! I meet up with similarly crazy friends so I'm determined not to miss out because of a bit of condensation.

I won't put my head inside the bag or all the water vapour will make it damp but I think I'll pull a fleecy blanket or similar over my head. Thanks!
