CMS50F and Sleepy Head advice please

Post by Darth_Rita » Wed Oct 17, 2018 3:59 am

Hi all

I have a question about using the Contec CMS50F with Sleepyhead.

My hospital report said I was diagnosed with an API of 26.4 and an oxygen desaturation of 36.4 but Sleepy head isnt showing anything like that in either case.

I started using the machine on Sept 25 2018 and according to Sleepyhead my average API for the period is 0.5 which is much lower and, since its been like that from the outset, I have doubts that I was correctly diagnosed since surely it wouldn't go down the moment I put the machine on especially given the problems I had with massive leaks during the first week (now resolved so thanks for the help and advice after my first post) when I was also reporting less than 5 events in a night.

However since they said my main problem was oxygen levels I wanted to check them before going back to the hospital but as the airsense 10 doesnt monitor SPO2 I bought a Contec CMS50F which also reports to Sleepy Head and it arrived on the 15th so I have been using it the last couple of nights.

The odd thing is each night it records a starting pulse of less than 16 that immediately jumps to 96 or above.

I have tried putting the device on and not starting the recording until its showing a normal Oxygen saturation level but it still shows a low start when you download the recording to Sleepyhead. However you don't get a low start figure when you look at the less detailed SPo2 Assistant report using the software that came with the device.

Has anyone else got one of these devices and if so is a really low start reading normal when send the data to Sleepyhead? If so I wonder if there is anyway to correct the Sleepy head report as its messing with my averages.
