Settings Per Mask Type.

Post by lliann » Mon Sep 24, 2018 7:30 am

So, been doing very well for 4 months. Got my numbers to 3 or below which I am ok with. Generally nasal is my choice but I still deal with extreme dry mouth. I can live with it but still trying other scenarios .

Last night I tried the F20 full face cushy mask. I was surprised to find that I made it to over 4 hours and ahi low 3. Because towards the end Hurricane Me was going on in my mask. Could not reset it no matter what I did but found some tricks with smooshing into pillows . But nothing that solved gale force winds.I could have unplugged and restarted but once I delay my sleep, I am up for hours so I avoid that.

Question: Do/Can/Might the settings from one mask type vary from another? The setting I use is good for my deviated septum, but I wonder if its too much for a full face. Especially right where the lower cheek meets the upper chin. That is always where the full faces burp, blow, poop whatever.

Theories?

My Airsense has a setting for Full Face vs. Pillows. I never found that the pressure was significantly different using the full face other than the fact that I'm using it only when I have a bad cold. I'm like you, if there is a problem, I HATE to get up to fix it because then it takes me awhile to get to sleep. However, if you aren't going to sleep with the hurricane, then you were better off just getting up to figure it out. Might be that you didn't properly seal your humidifier bin when you closed it.

The type of mask setting aid the machine in calculating the vent rates. The machine will subtract the vent rates and not count it as a leak.

Ok. So I am learning. I tried the ffm last night and it was worse. And yet while resitting the mask never worked, smooshing on pillows did seem to... at least stop the noise. Not sure it stopped the '
leak' But as you wrote, how much of it is being qualified as a "leak."? I kind of like the ffm because no dry mouth. So I am willing to play with it and see if there are tricks to keeping noises/leaks/burps manageable. New topic.<g>
