I have alpha wave intrusion into deep sleep as per spring sleep study (no machine). Right now no CSA and moderate OSA. I don't have CFS (I've done a ton of reading here) but do have MS which does it's best to mess up my brain
I have a titration study this month.
I'm getting less than 30 minutes of deep sleep a night and this has been going on for a while. I'm operating in a blur. I do have severe REM associated apnea and this is taken care of by the biPap. Getting a good amount of REM sleep with this machine.
I have right side airway/tongue/palate weakness, which I assume makes me have the equivalent of UARS. It's only a problem at night at this point (during that relapse I couldn't talk or swallow well either). This last month I wake up and have to use a finger to open up one side of my airway. This has got to stop. My machine doesn't seem to "know" that one side collapsing is a problem since I'm still breathing. I'm guessing it's happening during deep sleep, because I dip into deep then bounce out again.
I'm also super sensitive to low oxygen, and I do think I rouse at >90% sat. (I suspect this because at 94% when awake I'm super dizzy). So I`m pretty sure the alpha wave stuff is because I'm rousing to adjust, swallow, breathe better. But I have no idea really. Just making this stuff up as I go
Couple of questions:
1. Is there a way to help with UARS? Different XPAP, something?
2. I don't even know what questions to ask of my sleep neurologist. Something has to shift. I don't see him until November, but I can list questions on the forms during my September 22 sleep study.
I would appreciate any input, hints, tricks, encouragement that I can move forward somehow. I'm working and love what I do and can't operate in the current blur. I'm barely awake when I'm awake, and I tend to end up with a narcolepsy type thing when sleep deprived.
Thank you!
