Am interested to know if many people pay any attention to their 'biorythms' as defined here ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biorhythm
I actually have an Oregon Scientific clock (mod RM602) that has a biorthym display facility that allows entering a birthdate & then it displays in 4 selectable charts the various cycles & the current state.
(the only image of it is in another language - can't seem to find an English reference ...

Am not certain of the relationship between biorythms and cpap but am checking more regularly to see if I can see any links - thus far none that stand out.
Does anyone else check their biorythm status & if so have you ever looked for any relationship to cpap ?
Cheers

Biorhythms
It was good to read the question of linking biorhythms to CPAP therapy. I faithfully charted my biorhythms for years and used the information for long-range scheduling at work. I was quite aware that some days my concentration was very steady and on others uneven to dull, so I planned my editing and admin work accordingly. Recently, I have been trying to figure out why some nights I sleep well and others are restless; I've been keeping a sleep log since starting on CPAP, so I can now try to put some clues together.
When I just googled biorhythms I learned that some additional cycles have been added to the physical, intellectual, and emotional that I charted previously. Now one can track intuitive, aesthetic, and spiritual cycles as well. Here is a web site where you can chart the three basic cycles:

For me, today, all three are in free fall, which can explain why I fell asleep twice today in a class before noon and have felt "flukey" all day. Last night and the night before I did not sleep restfully or comfortably but for several days just before I was fine. I would love to have a simple biological explanation for my variable success with CPAP.
Canon has an alarm clock calculator with a biorhythm calculation function, #CC-810.

Funny thing is any time I go searching for biorythm units like this they seem to show up in italian, japanese, russian & chinese but not english.
The Oregon Sci unit incudes the intuition cycle as well as the regular phys, emo, & intell.
Reason I asked was that 2 nights ago I turned off my cpap machine (couldn't seem to get to sleep) & using the rationale that having lost a load of weight, maybe I am no longer needing cpap support, anyway - had what seemed like a nice sleep, but the next day felt very slow - in fact went & had 90 mins sleep at lunchtime !!! still didn't feel so great. Was also a bit clumsy & actually dropped a few items (that is just not normal for me).
Last night had that machine on as soon as I went to bed & got up today right back to normal. My 1st thought was to look at the biorythm data to see if yesterday coincided with a 'critical' day but nup - none are near.
But, I wondered if anyone else was doing any correlation. I see that some researchers thought there was a link to respiration (in the wikipedia article).

Yes, I have wondered that myself but there did appear to be some evidence that there was substance to it & over a fair period of time.JShane wrote:Not really. I've always considered bio-rhythms to be a 1980's version of astrology.
Last night on TV there was a show on the El Nino effect. It seems that in the late 1800s a british scientist was asked to try to work out the periods at which the Peruvian effect might occur (fish dissapeared every 3-5 years for 18 months or so).
He was a pretty smart cookie & eventually during WW1 he was able to get teams of Indian (in India) public servants analysing yesr of weather data & eventually was able to present a theory called the 'southern oscillations' that explained how the warm water in the pacific shifted from one side of the ocean to the other & this caused opposite hi & lo pressure which in turned caused the monsoon cycles.
But at the time people regarded it as just the 1915 version of reading the stars and it got ignored until in 1957/8/9 the UN did research that came to the same conclusions. And now, again, 50+ years later, we know what El NINO is !
