There are good and bad reviews of the P10. Most (if not all) of the bad ones are about the headgear. Also I have seen some that mention their disappointment in the lack of swivel. Even the 4-star good reviews will often say something like "I took off a star for the headgear" etc.. It would not have cost anything extra for them to implement a simple 2 point adjustment for the band and a front hose swivel. Especially for what they're charging $$. Obviously Resmed is aware of the need or they would not include the little band clips (that slide right off). I could be wrong but the band clips seem like an afterthought because it was too late to do a redesign.
Swivel? Looking at a swivel on the Bravida and some others I was using you might think they are really going to keep the hose from tugging on the frame and moving the nose piece. The P 10 not having a swivel is one reason I didn't try one earlier. I try to be subjective about stuff like this. I was wrong to think the swivel was better. There is NO comparison in how well the hose is managed when comparing the P 10 to the Bravida or ANY of the nasal/full face masks I tried. I know it doesn't seem that should be the case. The exception to this is the Dreamwear. Hose at the top is simply the best setup out of all 8 or so masks I have used! By a large measure. But that is another story.
Headgear? I had written before that I wasn't sure if I liked the P 10 all that much. I was using a Bravida and a Nuance Pro when I first got the P 10. Maybe I was predisposed to think the headgear was an issue from reading posts here about the P 10. From habit with other masks, It didn't occur to me to wear the headgear much different than I would have with a Nuance or Bravida. There
should be better instructions included with the P 10 to explain how to get a large range of adjustment with it! My epiphany came when I scooted the top strap way more forward. Don't remember how that came about, but I noticed it took a LOT of pressure off the nostrils! Wow, this is now comfortable. By scooting the lower band all the way down to near your hairline and the top band forward almost to your brow the headband is MUCH more loose for those that need that. The P 10 doesn not need a lot of pressure to seal well and I find that less pressure is not only more comfortable but seems to allow air into my nose better. I get that some with smaller heads might need to go a different route and that an adjustable band might be great. I
really like the Nuance Pro headgear for instance. But after figuring out the P 10 headgear I think maybe a change isn't good. How would you get anything this light and comfortable by adding adjustable parts on both sides? Maybe ResMed should offer different sizes of the headgear, to cover different heads better. Especially smaller heads. But the headgear provided now is 100% ok after I learned how to adjust it.
