Re: Airsense 10 making a wheezing noise
My Airsense is still quiet, but the old S9 was about the same age when it started losing data
and making odd noises. (4+ years)

Ah okay I get you. I thought there was a little LED by the screen that would illuminate as a night light or something. There is a little clear light looking hole right by the screen and I thought that might’ve been the light but it likely is an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness of the screen.
Thanks for clarifying,
Re: Airsense 10 making a wheezing noise
Not that funny, it's a common side effect of your body not going into panic mode all night long

Or, rather, having to pee all night long is a common side effect of breathing problems while sleeping. (SDB)
when your BP spikes, because you're fighting to breathe, your heart sends a signal to the kidneys to ramp up production of urine to lower the BP... and you've gotta pee. remove the fighting to breathe, and everything else calms down, including the kidneys lowering production.

I believe that is correct.

Hi RonS,
My machine sound exactly like yours. I have called DME up and they said a respiratory technician will contact me. Hopefully they will replace it.

Any cpap machine that goes from being nearly silent to making any sort of excess and/or new noise needs to be checked out and probably replaced. They shouldn't be changing noise levels.

I kept picturing a cow calf stuck on a fence when hearing that thing. That's not...normal.RonS wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 10:10 pmThis is what my "new" from the DME supplier (900 hours) machine sounded like

My Airsense 10 is, for all intents and purposes, silent as a mouse. It's so silent in fact, I have to sometimes pull my pillows out just a bit to make sure the thing is still on.

Good for you. After calling them I drove to their distribution center and picked up the new machine.kuk_sleeper wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 12:38 amHi RonS,

Indeed! I've been doing this for more than a decade and I thought it was excessively loud (and tonal!) but it was a new machine (my first new machine) and a new brand, I wanted to see if my expectations were off. The tech at the DME said this is the way they sound when they fail.Midwest_non_sleeper wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 7:40 amI kept picturing a cow calf stuck on a fence when hearing that thing. Yet.... look at the poll in the thread at the people who said they couldn't tell of it was normal! Of course one of them was likely the banned YXXYZYXYXZ or whatever his name was.
Finally, notice that Pugsy gave great words of wisdom, Pugsy is always a blessing. <3

Funny as it may be, there may be more truth to that than we know.

Re: Airsense 10 making a wheezing noise
Yesterday night the machine stopped working. I mean there was no pressure and I woke up gasping. I tried power cycling the machine and tested the mask fit. I did feel any pressure and the mask fit test failed. I tried it again in morning and it seems to be working fine.
After multiple calls to apria, a technician called back. The respiratory technician asked me to come in with the machine. But the earliest appointment they have is after 5 days. Thankfully I just have mild apnea. I do not know how they expect someone with severe sleep apnea to be without CPAP for 5 days.
I am getting to see why apria has a bad reputation.

It's standard recommendation here to keep a backup machine. YOU are the best caretaker of your health.kuk_sleeper wrote: ↑Thu Aug 23, 2018 10:58 pmThe respiratory technician asked me to come in with the machine.
