Look what just happened! CPAP FTW.

Post by jamesbond007 » Mon Aug 20, 2018 8:01 am

My prescribed pressure was 8cm - 12cm H2O with an EPR of 2cm. I averaged at 0.8 AHI the first 30 days of being on CPAP. Then I increased the pressure to 10cm - 14cm H2O with an EPR of 2cm and I have been averaging at 0.18 AHI the last week. But last night was special. I got a Smiley Face. AHI of 0.0.

Few things I noticed:
1. My headgear stretched so I adjusted the fit a little bit last night. Not sure if this helped but the overall leak rate is still within normal range for me.
2. Pressure could have made a big difference as, my guess is that, the old pressure was too low considering a 2cm EPR.

Anyway, very happy where I am going with this. Thanks, everyone for the support and suggestions.

Side note: I did a 70-mile bike ride with an elevation of 4200ft. Slept and woke up feeling like riding again. CPAP FTW.

Wow! I’m envious: my AHI averages over 20, but my provider shrugs that off by pointing out that it was >120 in the sleep study.
I “graduated” from BiPAP to IVAPS after my third sleep study. My machine is not listed as a choice: ResMed AirCurve 10 ST-A with humidifier and FFM

Unless there are extinuating circumstances, an AHI of 20 is nothing to be shrugged off. Have you tried posting your data and having folks here look at it?

Start your own thread, (if you haven't) and post screenshots from sleepyhead.

An AHI of 20 is deplorable, and your provider is full of crap. (more proof that snuzyQ's view that "your doctor will take care of you" is total bull.)

I highly recommend posting your sleepyhead reports here in a new thread and let the experienced folk here analyze what's going on. Also, ditch your provider and look for someone better. My diagnosed AHI was 27 and I was diagnosed with moderate OSA. You are not too far off.

Congrats 007!

I've had 3 0.0 AHI nights - but I've never seen Mr. Smiley. Always some RERA's. The way I view this is: I pitched a no-hitter. You pitched a perfect game. Well done!
