Resmed P10 replacement

Post by Hornnumb2 » Tue Aug 14, 2018 4:32 pm

I love my p10 but am so over the head band stretching out, I have been wearing the brevida for the last two nights but it has more face contact the the p10. Is the resmed swift basically a p10 with different head band? Any other suggestions? Thanks Michael

Did you try removing the headgear and wash & soak it in water?
The headgear usually shrinks back to size after it dries out.
My headgear is over 18 months old and still doing well.

The Swift FX nasal pillow is very similar to the P10 but it doesn't have the diffused venting.

Did you know that you can take the P10 frame and pillow and put it on the Swift FX headgear?
I have done it and slept with it that way.

I may have some pictures. I will go look.

See this thread for how I married the Swift FX headgear to the P10 frame/pillows.

The headband/headgear/stretchy bit has been the first thing to go on every mask I've ever had. (nine years).

I just had to shrink mine up again a couple of days ago. I think that it is about at the point that shrinking no longer works very well.
Not sure how many months I have used it. I don't keep very good track of those things but I think 9 or 10 months at least.

I just toss mine in the laundry on a regular basis. I've got a couple, I take one off, toss it in with the dirty clothes, and put on another, then drop the washed one in the drawer.

Far easier than trying to do it by hand, and since there's no velcro to get gooped, it works great.

I wash several of my p10 headgear at a time.
I put them in a large plastic jar with really HOT water and Dawn, and shake like a maniac.
Then I dump out the hot sudsy water, and rinse well.
I then roll them up in a clean towel, which gets hopped on to squish out most of the water.
I then hang them up in the shower to finish drying.
My headgear are from 1 year old to 4 years old, and I cannot tell the old ones from the new ones.

I've had an ongoing love/hate relationship with my 2 P10s since they came out. The headgear lacks buckles, so overall I guess it's more comfortable than adjustable headgear. But it tends to lose its tension with time, and by that, I mean 2-3 years.

And the air exhaust diffuser makes for a quieter mask. However, the diffuser tends to get plugged after a while, and I feel like I'm breathing into a paper bag. I tried scrubbing it with a toothbrush and soapy water, but my wife kvetched about the taste of Dial deodorant soap on her toothbrush, so I had to give that up. I found simply dumping the P10 in the clothes washer cleans it thoroughly, and, as has been mentioned, seems to put some stretch back in the elastic bands.

I don't know if you're serious, but I have a separate tooth brush I use for cleaning my mask. The dentist gives them away for free.

I am betting he isn't being serious....and I was going to tell him he was supposed to be using his toothbrush and not the wife's.
He's no dummy....if my husband did that he would probably find the toothbrush inserted in an orifice he doesn't need cleaned with toothbrush. I am betting his wife would likely do the same.

My CPAP and I would be out in the shed, where my solar battery backup is charging. :(

I don't know if you're tossing the whole mask into the washer :!: :?: but, I recommend using *dishwashing* soap, not *body* soap... I'll leave the fight about toothbrushes up to you and your adventurousness, :D I just use an old one.

Actually, I keep a spare head from my braun electric toothbrush, (one of the round ones) around for assorted cleaning duties, it does a great job on the P10, gets into the crevices nicely.

I have replaced the bands before and washed them to revive. I did just order the swift head band and try that mod to see how I like it. It just seems like the littlest leak wakes me up and I am just gonna try something new.
