Face mask issues and skin issues. just started

Post by Warvet » Tue Aug 07, 2018 5:51 pm

Just got a CPAP machine, and literally first night I lasted 10 minutes, before I had to rip it off. The air flow isn’t the issue. I have a skin condition and cold air repetivly hitting my nose and the tightness of the mask made it literally feel as if my skin was being ripped off my face. Within 10 minutes my face is red and blotchy  and my scalp feels like a rake is being dragged accross it. ( I have a Phillips respironics device)
What other options are open as I cannot bare this?

This skin condition has been around awhile?
Pad a Cheek has mask liners, which may help.
A nasal pillow mask may expose less area to airflow.

Are you talking about Raynaud's? You can get a heated hose which will warm up the air... but I'll let others tell you more about it as I don't use one... but from what I've heard, they're great!

The mask looks like a pigs nose, and the hose connects to the front, it has four straps, that need to be tight or it leaks. It’s a fungal skin condition had for years now, cream works but no cure. I’ve also got eczema
