Why do I have water in my mask and tube?

hello, mytommy and welcome to the forum!

it's a condition known as "rainout". there are various ways of preventing this. one of them is to insure your cpap machine is below the level of your head. this can help prevent the water in your humidifier tank from travel up the hose and into your face.

As far as I can tell, it is caused by relative temperature differences between the ambient air and the heated air from the humidifier. Do you have a ResMed or a Respironics machine? For ResMed, you can follow this guide for a rough idea of how to set things to avoid rainout. The heated tube is generally the solution to getting the humidity level you want without rainout, although you can still get rainout if the settings for the heated tube are manual and set with too high of humidity level & too low of tube temp.
