No need. Just put it in airplane mode. It will ask you if you want to take it out of airplane mode, but you don't have to do anything--it will stay in airplane mode until you take it out of airplane mode.
Thanks Janknitz. Do you have to dismiss the nag screen every day before moving on or can you just ignore it?
I ignore it. I think you have to answer "yes" or "no" if you want to see a data screen, but I hardly ever bother anymore.

This period changes from one day to 30 days (the default) if power is lost to the machine.
