Recommendations for 1st time purchase

Post by Animalrooster41 » Sat Jul 21, 2018 10:19 pm

Hello, just diagnosed and knee jerk bought a older machine (no data recording) that i will be selling. I know almost zero and really need help. Diagnosed with all 3 apneas severe category with 47 overall score. My budget is up to $500 for everything. Where to look? What do i get? Found 1 a member was advertising only to have it fall through. Thanks for any advice

You have a RX available from a doctor since you had a sleep study.
You could try secondwindcpap.com for a low hour used machine or new open box special.

APAPs are like 2 machines in one...they have both cpap mode (fixed single pressure) and apap/auto adjusting pressure mode

Target either ResMed or Respironics. I personally prefer ResMed but if you can get a hot killer deal on a full data Respironics machine it would be worth doing.

Models that would be acceptable in your situation.

ResMed...the latest is the AirSense 10 model line so
AirSense 10 Elite (it's a fixed pressure machine and I would suggest apap auto adjusting but if you found a killer hot deal the Elite would work)
AirSense 10 AutoSet or the for Her AutoSet...either one of these would be very good.

or a good deal on the slightly older mode in the ResMed line...the S9 model line
the S9 AutoSet.

In the Respironics model...
The DreamStation is the most current model line
DreamStation Pro (fixed pressure again)
DreamStation Auto CPAP....apap...this is the one I would recommend

or the slightly older PR System One 60 series Auto CPAP...model number 560.

Check with forum member LSAT....I have bought machines from him myself. Trustworthy and not flaky.
I don't know for sure what he might have but he usually has something or is getting something.

Grayghost4 is also reliable

Each one of those will sometimes have a mask available...and if not ....check with me as I might have a mask you can have for cost of postage. I have some donated masks...gently used but with a lot of life left in them.
All depends on what you want to try. I don't have a lot of inventory...but some even have brand new cushions to go with slightly used headgear.
I think I have a complete ResMed P10 nasal pillow mask that you could have...headgear and frame gently used but I have some new nasal pillows.
This mask if it interests you

If you need a full face mask...might have one but choice is limited...just let me know

There is also Amazon as a choice but I think that it will out of your budget for a good suitable full data machine.
Used to be a lot cheaper than online but not so much now.

You can also check your local craigslist but you really have to know your models if you do that...when in doubt...ask here.

The main reason I suggest ResMed...it's a bit less noisy and it's Exhale Relief is superior IMHO at the upper pressures and if you don't know your pressure needs..might as well anticipate higher pressures and exhale relief needs ahead of time.
I have used and own both brands...both work fine...it's just that the ResMed is a bit superior in how it does some things IMHO.
