Got in to see my Doc

Post by SirGaspAlot » Wed Jul 18, 2018 12:19 pm

Got in to see my Dr. after a rough night last night, seeing as how it was bad enough that work was out if the question , and I got a better view of where he was headed with this.
I do have complex apnea, but most of my events can be attributed to pressure, and he doesn't think they were true central events but rather triggered by pressure support and the threshold not being high enough. He called in a settings update and I still have a follow up on 8/11 to go to. My original pressure settings were 6-18 cucm h20 and were changed to 6-22 and a ps of 4. We will see how it goes.

My wife had the same problem when she started her treatment. They started her off at a lower pressure which essentially cut her AH I in half. They brought her pressure up gradually over a six month period. They started off raising her pressure one cm per month. They did that for four months, then made a four cm jump on the fifth month. She still has a few central events, usually less than two per hour.

So, he says your centrals are due to pressure and too much PS... so he ups the pressure, and ups the PS (from 2-4 to 4 flat) .... and doesn't raise the minimum pressure that's causing too many OAs and HAs.

Winner!

Also, not to be critical, but if you keep all your issues in one thread, it makes things a lot easier for anybody that's trying to help you.

Sorry, I thought perhaps best if I divided the topics apart. He did acknowledge I haven't had a single night below 12.0 ah I, and did show concern and addressed it immediately. Will see how it goes, but last night was horrible. I was fortunate to get in to see him and try and resolve this.

Not sure the changes made will help any and in fact is likely to make your central worse but your Dr may be a genius, let us know how it goes.

I most certainly will. He also did say what everyone said here already, that he thinks the centrals may go away. Id love to know how that could happen since I walked in with them.

Made a decision. My AHI last night was 20. Still not good, but they haven't pushed the software update yet. I called my physician and asked for a second opinion referral to a new Dr. for a couple reasons. I think hes a decent Doctor, but why should I be expected to sit in a car on 2.5 hours sleep for 3 hours with my equipment chip which wasn't needed to begin with because they can poll the equipment and had it ready when I arrived and required a "face to face consultation" for something like a new program update to my equipment they have to send remotely anyway? So the referral is good for 30 days, which will allow time for the software update to take and I can at least entertain it, and if its good, I just don't show for the referral. But most likely I will take the referral anyway because I shouldn't have risked driving that far after a months worth of crappy sleep.
