card reader,
den, i am using encore pro software, aand all was ok for 3 weeks then it doesent detect reader, i did not make any changes, that i know of,i am just new at this, and hope i can get this going?the program is working ok, but not reader, thanks.
That helps a little.
Do you have your card reader plugged into a USB port in your main motherboard?......like in the back?
Does the light come on on the card reader when the card is in?
I have a "funky" cardreader/USB situation on mine, so maybe there are some similarities.
What I do is to put my card in the card reader before I start up my computer (in the mornings when I do my downloads). If the cardreader light goes on (either green or red) then I know it sees it. If the light doesn't come on, I unplug the USB plug in the back of the computer and plug it back in.....UNTIL the light finally goes on. Then I know everything will work when I start up the programs (I have all of my Encore Pro components in separate shortcuts on my desktop so they're not in the startup)
On some occasions (even when things LOOK like they're going to work), I've had to re-insert the card a time or three until it recognizes it......I think THAT problem is a "positional thing" with the card in the reader.
I've always been able to get mine to work.....it's just that sometimes it's a little stubborn.
If those suggestions from my experiences do or don't work.....let us know and maybe we can go from there.

Theoretically, no. It SHOULD re-write over the oldest data. For whatever reason, many of the new M Series machines start skipping a couple of nights after 6 nights of storage. I believe this is a problem with the firmware in those machines and NOT a problem with the card or software.JPO wrote:What's the capacity of the smart card? Can it become full if you never erase it?
Normally, the cards will hold about 6 or 7 nights of detailed data and somewhere between 6 months and a year of compliance data.
When I hit (about) 10 months of data on my card (which had never been erased), I started getting a message from the Respironics XML server saying "Command text was not set for the command object". I switched cards and no longer got the message. I then erased and switched back to my original card and didn't get it on that one either.
It wasn't really an "error" message because all I had to do was click OK and it would go ahead and finish. It just made me nervous as I was getting it every time and for about a week.....until I switched cards.
