Hyperventilating while sleeping
Hyperventilating while sleeping
Hello -- I have been on my CPAP machine for 7 weeks. I can honestly say there has been no change in my level of fatigue and I still wake up multiple times a night. One thing that has gotten WORSE is my asthma. I have been a lifelong asthmatic. My symptoms were extremely well-controlled prior to using CPAP with medication and breathing exercises. My normal respiration rate at rest is about 8 breaths a minute. I wake up most mornings hyperventilating and unable to catch my breath. I have gone from a "once a week or so" rescue inhaler to daily. Thanks to the sleephead software, I know I'm not hallucinating this. I am attaching (hopefully) a screen shot. "overbreathing" is common in asthmatics and changes our blood pH... while I appreciate that apnea is bad, I don't think this is particularly healthy either. My theory is that the constant CPAP pressure is messing with my internal breathing regulator. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you'll compare those to the examples, you'll see they don't match up.Fiji wrote: ↑Sun Aug 05, 2018 6:10 pmHi there - my apologies for the delayed response.
