Falling asleep in daytime. Insomnia at night.

Post by yourbrokenoven » Thu Jun 28, 2018 11:17 pm

I still haven't gotten this one figured out. Every two or so weeks I just can't sleep. Always when I have to work the next day. Usually a thursday night. Started taking Lexapro in case this was depression or anxiety. Here I sit exactly two weeks after starting the medication. Can't sleep.

Last time this happened about two weeks ago, I tried taking melatonin, benadryl, and finally my spouse's xanax out of desperation. Nothing fazed me. I'm not even bothering tonight. I just know I'll sleep like a stone after work.

What's frustrating about this is that I'm drowsy during the day. Twice this week, I've fallen asleep in the day time. I usually can't hold my eyes open at night.

Since the appointment with the general doctor was rather fruitless, I'm going to make an appointment with the sleep doctor now. I don't know what else to do other than live my life sleep deprived so I can sleep at night.

Read up on the side effects for Lexapro.

It causes both daytime sleepiness and insomnia

and then read up of SSRIs and sleep. (SNRIs same problem though...they both mess with sleep). Mess with sleep architecture..

google SSRIs and sleep..there's a lot more out there.

Thanks. This has been going on for a month prior to taking Lexapro. The day time sleepiness has somewhat improved with the Lexapro. I went over all this with the doctor and she prescribed Lexapro in response.
