How to power off the "cooling down" mode on S9 ResMed

Post by golisa10 » Wed Jun 13, 2018 7:12 am

Greetings,
The S9 Resmed unit I use goes in to a "cooling down" mode whenever I get up to use the restroom at night. I have to go to the push button and press it down until it says "warming up". Not only is this tedious as I take off my mask, sometimes it doesn't heat properly and so I get cold air pumping into my mask. I wake up 1/2 hour or so freezing cold. How do I disable the 'cool down' mode?

Do you have the heated hose for the S9?

How long do you stay up when you get up to go to the bathroom?

What is the ambient temperature of your bedroom?

No....there is no way to disable the machine going into cool down mode if you stop the blower.
Now you can just not turn the machine off and just let it blow the entire time you are up going to the bathroom so it never starts cool down mode. You would have to disable Smart Start though for the machine to continue to blow while you were up to go to the bathroom otherwise it would shut itself off once it realized you weren't attached.

I have been using my S9 for over 4 years and have never noticed a problem. I turn off my machine 1-2 times every night. I'm in a Northern Climate and have no problems with cold air. Since the machine only blows your room air, you must keep your room cold.

Do all S9 machines have the ability to use the climate hose? Mine did not come with one. Can I make it work (by using the clinician menu) if I get one? I have disabled Smart Start. (Thanks)

I believe they all accept the heated hose, yes you can set your machine for a heated hose... :)

Yes, all the S9 machines are heated hose compatible and you don't have to do anything special. The machine will recognize the heated hose and then you can adjust hose air temperature to your preference.
I did it in the winter because I like the bedroom cold in the winter but I don't like ice cube nose.

Here's the provider manual for the S9.
https://forum.apneuvereniging.nl/pdf/S9 ... manual.pdf

So all you would have to do is just get a heated hose and your cold air problem would be quickly resolved because you can do hose air temp and humidity settings separately if you wish.

Alternately you might add a hose cozy and maybe keep the air somewhat warmer but for just a few dollars more you can get a heated hose and not have to deal with the maybe warmer and the weight of the hose cozy.
If you use a DME...check with them as you are probably eligible for a new hose anyway. Be careful though...they will charge more than you can find them online for and if you have a deductible to meet you might be better off just buying online.

The powered air outlet for Climateline hose is on the heated humidifier.
The heated hose cannot be operated if no humidifier is attached.

Just ignore it, everybody else does,... it's not going to cool down appreciably in the time it takes you to go to the bathroom.

the only way to disable cooldown is to turn the machine back on. or don't turn it off in the first place (disable smartstart and let it blow while you're not there)
