Resmed Aircurve 10 mask setting?

I have just switched from a Resmed Airtouch N20, which called for a mask setting of pillows to a Responics Dreamwear Nasal mask. The instruction book did not reference what mask setting to use . I called Responics and they told me to call Resmed. I called Resmed and I could not get an answer. So here I am with a new Dreamwear Nasal Mask and I don't know what mask setting to use on the Resmed AirCurve 10.
Help please!

Just leave it set for pillows.

N = Nasal ... Set it to that ...

The pillow setting is for pillows .. like the P10

Full Face masks have the F in front of them ... Use the correct setting for each on your machine ...

The two responses above illustrate my dilemma: one says pillow and the other says nasal.
how does the two settings vary in performance and AGAIN, which setting should i use.

I don't think it is going to matter much no matter which you choose.
I tried this mask some time back and left it on "pillow" choice for a week and then changed it to "nasal" and nothing changed anywhere.

Try both settings and see if you can see any difference in leak numbers beyond normal variances. I couldn't.

The mask setting choices have to do with how the excess leak is figure and the inherent mask resistance in each mask.
How the machine adjusts for resistance I don't have a clue but the vent rate which is used to calculate excess leak reporting and the resistance is so close to what the vent rate is for a ResMed pillow mask that I don't think it matters which a person chooses.
It's not a critical choice.

To my thinking though...it's a nasal mask and not a pillow mask even though it doesn't technically cover the nose like the other nasal masks.

FWIW...I recently gave the new DreamWear full face mask a try and forgot to change the setting from nasal pillow to full face and I still couldn't tell any difference in anything once I remembered to change it and made the change and compared the reports.
It's not the end of the world if we choose the wrong setting and especially not the end of the world when choosing between nasal and pillow. The worst thing that can happen...excess leak numbers might be slightly different but usually not different enough to hurt anything.

Think about it...there's minor differences in vent rates and mask resistance even between the different pillow masks or the different nasal masks.
Again..try both settings and see if you can spot a big difference in anything...I am betting you can't.

Doctor has nothing to do with it. It's a setting that determines how leaks are reported. None of the machine data goes to the doctor...It goes to ResMed.
