Resmed CPAP repair
Resmed CPAP repair
Does anyone know if Resmed does repair on their machines? I have a Resmed Airsense Autoset that just stopped working and I have had the machine since November 2014. I got my machine through Medicare. The warranty says it is only good for two years. The unit is completely dead when plugged in.

You'll be paying out of pocket for repair seeing it's over 2 years ... I say search for another machine online.. probably much cheaper than a fix.. try SecondWind CPAP or Craigslist.. there was one posted on here not long ago for about $300 .. They're out there .. Just gotta look ...

Medicare will often pay for a repair or allow a new machine to be dispensed if it costs too much for the machine to be repaired and it's out of warranty.
Get with the DME or equipment supplier that you used your Medicare with to get the machine.

Re: Resmed CPAP repair
That's pretty awesome that Medicare does that for you .. sort of an unlimited warranty ... Out of warranty for me I have to pay out of pocket after the time is up ... I am aloud a new machine every 5 years on my insurance not any sooner...

Re: Resmed CPAP repair
It's not really an unlimited warranty. Deductibles and co pays for part B stuff and compliance usage requirements start brand new again so the person still has expenses out of pocket unless they have insurance that pays the copays/deductibles. Where as with something replaced under warranty would mean no out of pocket expense to the person.
Medicare will first try to get it repaired though. If it costs too much to repair then they will help you get another machine but the patient will have expenses involved.
Still less than buying out of pocket in most situations though unless someone finds a really good deal on a machine somewhere.

Thank you so much for the information. The darn thing went out on Friday night, so I'm having to wait until Monday morning to find anything out. I just have a feeling that it may be the power supply unit. Thanks again for the help.

I once had (private) that would not pay for repair and would not replace unless the repair was not feasible (meaning it would cost more than a new machine), or not possible. Theoretically, this would apply even if the machine were 15 years old!
Fortunately, the manufacturer was not supporting the machine and thus it was not possible to get an authorized repair. This was in 2005 for a machine that I got in 1999.
II think most (all?) current US plans will replace a machine after five years no questions asked. Not sure about sooner, but I would see if they'll pay for a repair or replacement.

We don't think much of your thinking. But then again that's my thinking. Buyer Beware.

If you have access to a voltmeter, you can check out the power supply to see what (if any) voltage it is putting out. That may narrow down your issue. Cpap repair is pricey. Awhile back I sent in a System One machine for estimate...$800 but that included new motor and board.
Good luck,

Re: Resmed CPAP repair
I found a used machine of the same model, which I use as as a travel machine, and it serves as a backup machine. My mom and I both use the same model machine and same mask. I also have a spare humidifier, spare tank, spare hose, and I recently got lucky with an awesome deal on 7 or 8 full masks (sleep lab gave them away for the cost of shipping, still sealed). The only downside is that the masks come with medium headgear, and I need small. So, I keep an eye on ebay for the smaller size, and I can sew these smaller if need be. I also keep an eye out for cheap cushions, though I can raid the spare full masks for awhile if I need to.
I usually check ebay every couple weeks, and craigslist once a week or so. Just looking for good deals on what I use. That way I can stay ahead on supplies and not have to worry or pay full price.
