How do I find my CPAP pressure?

Post by mileena » Wed May 16, 2018 2:08 pm

I use a Philips DreamStation Auto CPAP HUM Dom.

I took a picture of the screen:

Image

Does that mean I have to take those figures and multiply by 10 and then divide the result by 9 to get the result at 100%?

Also, how do you say cmH20? "Centimeters of water"??

Thanks!

You're right on the 2nd question, but the first is confusing... are you asking what your prescribed pressure setting(s) is? Are you saying you slept ? 9 hrs or where did 9 come from? And for that matter 10? I think you need to figure out what your real question is and then try again...

90% means you were at or BELOW that level on that night... not that you stayed at the 90% level all night.

You should know by now what your pressure settings are (get a copy of your lab test from your doctor - it's yours by law and should cover maybe many questions you have.

I just realized you have essentially 2-3 of the same posts duplicated in a couple of threads re batteries and now this issue above. It would so help us to help you if you stuck to one thread, come back and look at the replies (and maybe write some down) and then followed through with those.

Your apap is set for a pressure range not shown on this screen. The
90% at 16 means that your pressure only went above 16 for 10% of
the night. As you see this changes some over time . If you want to
take a much more detailed look at your data you may want to
download and use Sleepyhead.

That screen shows that your machine was at or below those pressures. You may have been at them for a short time then at a lower pressure. If you don't have your Clinical Manual which has a lot more information than the user manual, here is a link to get one. https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap- ... tup-manual If you go to section three and follow the instructions they will email you one.

Since you have a question on your pressure settings in your equipment list, on that same link are instructions to get into the setup menu where you can see all of your settings. Don't make any changes just write them all down so you know what they are.

How we determine pressures is by looking at the data on the SD card to see if the events are being controlled. If you want to see your data you can use the free software Sleepyhead and here is a link to learn how to download the program. https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead Check out the other links on his site where you will find a lot of good information.

Why do you post the same thing all over but not take the advice and just keep posting?
I thought those number in my first post meant that is was 90% of my pressure, so my pressure would equal (10y)/9, where y equals the pressure given in my first pic. But now I realize that pic wasn't saying that. The 90% referred to something else.

Here is my sleep study.

Image

It says 10 cm/H20. So I guess that is my sleep pressure? But is says C-Flex of 2. But is that the same thing as the hose number? Because it says "15" on the hose, below:

I also do not have the same info on different posts. I only posted two threads: one on a buying a portable battery and this one.

Thanks so much Woody and OkyDoky! I have long wanted to adjust my own settings, but it said it was locked! This helps so much. I hate the ramp up thing. It feels like I am gasping for air and I have to remove the mask to get enough.

There's not enough information to determine your optimal pressure, but I would guess it's closer to the machine max (20) than the machine min (4).

I suggest using Sleepyhead. A 90% of 14.5 means that you were at or below 14.% 90% of the time. The missing piece of information is whether you were just below that number most of the time, or whether you were much lower for long stretches.

Sleepyhead also displays your machine type and pressure setting for example
in my case I have a Dreamstation auto set for 14 to 20. Then in another field
I can see all the other data like 95% pressure mask leaks AHI and so forth.

C-flex is a setting you'd add yourself to help relieve exhalation pressure (if it affects you). And the setting would be 1, 2 or 3. But many people don't use that feature at all, so you'll have to find out if at one time you set it up or if your doctor's office did it without explaining it to you. The C-flex setting has nothing to do with a 'hose number' (what do you mean by the hose number actually?

Nope.
There's no way to tell what your max pressure is from the 90% number.

I usually just abbreviate it to 'see em'... most people don't understand, without an explanation, how 'centimeters of water' equates to pressure... even though they think of their blood pressure in 'millimetres of mercury'.

Ok, duh on me. I am still learning. Thank you. You have been nice to answer all my questions Julie.

What I mean my hose or tubing number is the number printed on my tubing at both ends:

Hose number is diameter of the hose in millimeters.

Usual sizes...15 mm or 22 mm or 19 mm.
The 15 mm hoses are also sometimes referred to as "slimline" hoses because they are a bit slimmer and in the case of the Respironics DreamStation machines they are also heated hoses.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-dre ... #specs-tab

Pretty much all the heated hoses that are integrated with a specific brand are going to be the smaller diameter hoses.

Generic non heated hoses will also fit and they are usually the 22 mm diameter but sometimes we see 19 mm generic hoses.
