Solar Charger on FSA

Post by bposter » Thu May 03, 2018 2:21 pm

I have funds in my FSA that I need to spend before July. I've been looking at the battery options and while lithium cost a fortune next to AGM's this is money I've put in and will lose if I dont spend. I spoke with cpap.com and the FSA company and both said I "might" be fine to buy https://www.cpap.com/productpage/bps-su ... l-40w.html and have it covered. It's more expensive than other 40w panel setups, but if it's covered then it doesnt really matter. I know a lot of hardware gets declined because it could be used for things outside of medical uses, but this panel is built specifically to charge the batteries they make specifically for CPAPS and other medical equipment. The batteries and power adapters are covered.

Anyone tried this? If so, how did it go? If they deny it cpap.com will charge me $45 in restocking fees, dont really know if I want to gamble or not. Thanks!

Get a note from your Sleep Doc saying that you need a battery backup either because a power outage would be a serious problem, and/or because you go camping or otherwise stay in place where the electricity is not reliable or non-existent.

Gamble; or do not.
It is your choice.
Like the lottery, you cannot win if you never buy a ticket.
Cross your fingers, and hope for the best.
Good luck.

I got a lithium CPAP battery covered under FSA but never tried a solar panel - I already had that on hand. These smaller portable folding panels seem to be in the $2-3/watt price range these days. The fact that it comes from CPAP.com might help you with FSA eligibility I guess. I have one that can be daisy chained with a second panel to bump up the output.
