New to CPAP 4/30/18
Hello my name is Doug and I am getting my CPAP machine and I am wondering if I should ask for a Mouth and Nose mask for my extra mask. I am just worried if I were to get sick with a stuffy nose that I would not be able to use my nose mask. And as of right now I cannot afford the sterilizer, so I am wondering if anyone has and tips on cleaning the mask and tube. Thanks in advance, Doug
Re: New to CPAP 4/30/18
Wash the mask in soap and water periodically. Wipe the cushion with baby wipes each day..hose doesn't need cleaning

When you have time please add your equipment to your profile like I have mine.

Welcome to the forum.
Don't worry about getting a sterilizer for your equipment. Hot soapy water works extremely well and there's no need for one of those machines that say they will "sanitize" anything. You still have to wash the facial oils, slobber, snot, etc off before one of those sanitizers is used because they don't actually remove or clean anything...they just reportedly nuke the bacteria or germs.
Hot soapy water will kill the germs and bacteria too.
Worry about getting a full face mask and using it if sick later once you have mastered a nasal mask or proven a need for full face mask now.
It's been nearly 9 years now and I still haven't been sick enough to not be able to use my nasal mask to the point of just having to use a full face mask.
Unless you have chronic nasal congestion issues that you can't clear up enough to comfortably breathe through your nose start with nasal mask and put the full face mask on the back burner for now. You can get one later and keep it handy for "just in case".

There is no need for a "sterilizer".
(Which is not, does not, and is a waste of money.)
Follow the directions given by the manufacturer,
and do not feel driven to do it as often as they say.
Soap and water gets 99.99% of the bad stuff, so rest easy.
Oh, and WELCOME!
